Hello, Arizona! We’re pleased to welcome the Eleven Mile Solar Center to our portfolio of operational projects, our first in the US state of Arizona. This combined solar farm and battery energy storage system has the capacity to produce enough renewable energy to power 65,000 US homes and store up to 1,200 MWh of power.   With Eleven Mile Solar Center, we now have 5.6 GW of onshore renewables in operation globally. A clearer path towards net-zero! Together with The Carbon Trust and 11 other offshore wind developers, we’re thrilled to launch a new industry guidance on how to measure the full carbon footprint of offshore wind farms. The new methodology intends to improve comparability and transparency across the industry and help developers identify opportunities to further reduce emissions. “This is a testament to how we can drive impactful progress on sustainability in the offshore wind industry when we collaborate. A joint framework will support developers in working consistently with reducing emissions while enhancing transparency for customers and investors and preparing to meet future legislation,” explains Ida Krabek, Head of Global Sustainability at Ørsted. At #ClimateWeekNYC, our CEO, Mads Nipper, delivered a powerful message: “We can’t do this alone. We must mobilise greater investment in climate and nature, and we're collaborating with investors, off-takers, regulators, and our supply chain to manage first mover risks that often prevent us from deploying the capital needed to transform our energy systems.” We’re facing an urgent global challenge to scale up renewables. Without swift action, we risk falling short of policy goals and climate targets, compromising energy security, and missing out on the economic benefits that renewables can bring.    The industry, financial institutions, and governments need to work together to get us back on track – now’s the time for action.

7 % to 8 % of global greenhouse gas emissions come from the steel industry. That’s a problem because we need steel to build offshore wind farms – in particular for the foundations, where we need the thickest, heaviest-gauge steel.    That’s why we’re partnering with Dillinger. Dillinger is changing the way it makes steel, to reduce the emissions caused by steel. In our world-first agreement, we at Ørsted will get the first green steel Dillinger produces.      By committing to buy the lower-emission product, we’re helping to drive down the cost and to ensure we’ll have access to greener steel in the long term. Ørsted and Dillinger are also collaborating on sourcing renewable energy for the manufacturing of this low-emission steel, which’ll further strengthen the partnership.     This is a huge step forward in decarbonising steel and great news for the renewable energy industry.      Watch the full video to find out more. 

One offshore wind zone powering 8 million UK homes! ⚡     That’s what our four Hornsea sites add up to now that we’ve been awarded Contracts for Difference (CfD) for a remaining share of Hornsea 3 and for Hornsea 4 offshore wind farm.    In total, our four Hornsea offshore sites will be able to produce enough energy to power more than 8 million UK homes, while delivering benefits for local communities, the economy and the environment. 💪    Find out more about Ørsted’s experience and passion for offshore wind: https://lnkd.in/deUV479P
