Today, the FDA implemented a new rule that mammography reports include information about a woman’s breast density. This federal requirement standardizes the notification language patients receive, ensuring all individuals across the country have consistent information about the makeup of their breast tissue. "The new FDA 'Dense Breast' reporting requirement has been a long time coming, and I'm glad to see this step forward in increasing women’s awareness about breast density,” said Dr. Susan Holley, breast radiologist and clinical director for Onsite Women’s Health. “By empowering women with this information, we can help them make informed decisions about supplemental screening options, ensuring better outcomes for their breast health." At Onsite Women’s Health, we know that convenience drives breast cancer screening compliance, and compliance saves lives. While significant strides have been made in the fight against breast cancer, we know that many women delay care due to competing priorities, convenience, difficulty accessing care or reassurance from another practitioner, according to new research presented to The American Society of Breast Surgeons. To address the time barrier for women in St. Petersburg, Florida, affiliate Women's Care recently hosted ‘After Dinner Mints and Mammos’ – an after-hours mammography event to capture patients who otherwise wouldn’t have made an appointment. “Our event was planned in hopes of bringing patients in for their mammogram who weren’t able to make it during regular business hours,” said Heather Plummer, mammography technologist at Women’s Care Florida. “It was also an opportunity to celebrate the lives of our patients who may have been or will be affected by breast cancer. We were able to show our appreciation with gifts and treats – but most importantly our time – because time is just one of many barriers in life that we all face.” To Heather and all of our teammates across Onsite Women’s Health – thank you for your commitment to breast health and stressing the importance of early detection. #OnsiteWomens #BreastCancer #EarlyDetection #Mammography (L-R): Heather Plummer, Rebekah Little from Women’s Care and Andrea Gerlaugh (coordinator)

"The only reason I caught this cancer when it is still stage zero is because the day I got my text message that my yearly mammogram came up, I made the appointment." Early breast cancer detection saves lives. We applaud actress Danielle Fishel for sharing her story after recently being diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer called ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) at age 43. According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 1 in 5 new breast cancers will be DCIS – a pre-invasive group of cancerous cells that have not yet spread to the breast tissue surrounding it. But it can metastasize to other parts of the body if not removed. Nearly all women with this early stage of breast cancer can be cured. "It would be so much easier with as busy as I am, with the 50 jobs I have and the two kids and the husband and the house, to say, ‘I don’t have time for that. I went to my mammogram last year, I was fine last year, I don't need to go again this year,” shared Danielle. “I hope that it [my story] will encourage anyone to get their mammogram.” Learn more about Danielle’s breast cancer journey and schedule your mammogram today: https://bit.ly/3WSIRuB. #EarlyDetection #BreastCancer #Mammogram
