Due to an active wildfire in Gold Ranch, west of Reno near Verdi, we de-energized our power lines yesterday to protect first responders and prevent secondary ignitions. ⚠ Currently, about 6,300 customers are without power and should prepare to remain de-energized for the next 24 hours. All northern Nevada customers, especially in West Reno, Verdi, and surrounding areas, should prepare for additional outages. A red flag warning is in effect today from noon to 7 p.m. with wind gusts over 40 mph predicted. Due to this extreme warning, customers are not likely to be re-energized today to ensure safety. We are closely monitoring conditions and will restore power when it is safe to do so. We want to extend our sincerest gratitude to our first responders who are currently working to control this fire and keep the community safe. Please review NV Energy’s outage preparation tips and stay updated through our outage center. Update your contact information in MyAccount and sign up for personalized alerts. ⚡️ NV Energy participated in Sheriff’s Night Out – formerly National Night Out - at Mills Park in Carson City earlier this week. This event is a way for the community to interact with first responders and other organizations that come together for this fun night. Our team gave out swag and gave kids bucket truck rides, showing them what it is like being a lineman with #NVEnergy! Engaging with our community #ThisIsWhatWeDo
