Happy Veteran’s Day to all Veterans, today and everyday Noodles & Company is thankful and appreciative of your service. Today, Noodles and Company has the privilege of highlighting Kao Saephan, one of our many Noodlers that have also served in the military. Kao has been with Noodles and Company for six years, is an Area Manager, and has made a tremendous impact on not only his team at Noodles but throughout the company with his time on our I&D Council. Before Noodles, Kao served in the United States Army from 2010 through 2015. Kao bravely served as an 11Bravo Infantryman and was stationed in Hawaii. During his service, Kao deployed for thirteen months to Afghanistan from 2011-2012. Kao credits the military for his discipline and giving his life structure. After his service, Kao completed his accounting degree and then used his GI Bill to help him start his master's degree. A few years after his discharge, Kao joined our team at Noodles and his been a dynamic leader with us since day one! While being completely different, Kao still recognizes similarities between his time in the miliary and his time as Noodles. “Family means a lot in the military, and you see your comrades as family and that’s similar as to how I see my general manager, as if they are my family.”, Kao shares. Kao also reflects on his leadership roles during his service and tries to emulate those same standards at Noodles. “I put myself in my team’s shoes. I would never ask them to do anything that I wouldn’t do for them. I lead by example.” Kao shares. “During my time in the service, I learned so much about so many different people. In the military you try different foods, learn of unique cultures, and even more insight on different holidays such as Hanukkah.”, Kao comments. Kao’s widen perspective, dynamic leadership, and passion for inclusion made him the ideal council member for our I&D Council. Noodles and Company is honored to have had Kao as a part of our team for six years and we are looking forward to celebrating Kao and all veterans today and every day.
