#SustainabilitySaturday | Who knew your seafood platter could help save the coast? New Orleans is serving sustainability with a side of innovation, and you can be part of it! As our city embraces eco-friendly initiatives, our renowned culinary scene is leading the charge. A prime example is Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana, showcasing NOLA's inventive approach to conservation: ⛴️ 40+ local restaurants are shucking for a cause ⛴️ 14+ million lbs of shells rescued from landfills ⛴️ 8,000+ ft of new oyster reefs created (enough to cover our iconic Caesars Superdome turf more than 22 times!) The Oyster Shell Recycling Program highlights New Orleans' unwavering commitment to a sustainable future. You can address coastal erosion, support local businesses, and create wildlife habitats all while enjoying our exceptional cuisine. From the French Quarter to the wetlands, New Orleans demonstrates that preservation and progress are perfectly aligned. So next time you meet in New Orleans, savor some oysters, and remember: you're contributing to our city's coastal revival! #BuiltToHost

Welcome to #COOLinaryCorner! Today, we're exploring another New Orleans chef's creations that capture the city's unique culinary spirit. Meet Chef Gavin Goins Jr.: Chef Goins grew up immersed in the culinary world, working alongside his Great Aunt Leah Chase in her kitchen. This early exposure laid the foundation for his passion for New Orleans cuisine. From 2003 to 2015, Chef Goins honed his skills, rising through the ranks of various restaurants across Louisiana, and building a diverse culinary repertoire. In 2016, Chef Goins' career took a significant turn when he became the Executive Chef of Dook's Place. There, he shared countless hours with his cousin, Chef Edgar "Dook" Chase IV, exchanging ideas and recipes, further deepening his connection to his family's rich culinary heritage. His talent and innovative approach to Creole cuisine didn't go unnoticed, earning him a spot on Nola.com's "Chefs to Watch For" list in 2017. Today, Chef Goins brings his expertise and creativity to Chapter IV Nola in New Orleans as the Executive Chef. For the COOLinary menu, Chef Goins draws inspiration from his roots and his current culinary philosophy. He explains, "My inspiration for the COOLinary menu was simply showing a glimpse into what we do at Chapter IV. And that is classic New Orleans flavors that we grew up eating with our spin on it, creating a modern Creole dining experience." One standout dish on the menu is Chef Goins' take on a southern brunch staple: Shrimp and Grits. He chose this dish because it showcases the classic flavors he grew up with, elevated with a modern twist. The sauce for this shrimp and grits recipe is based on a traditional Creole Sauce, brimming with fresh seasoning and delicious tomatoes. This bright sauce pairs perfectly with creamy, garlicky grits, creating the most satisfying bite. Experience Chef Gavin Goins Jr.'s modern take on classic New Orleans flavors at Chapter IV as part of the COOLinary menu. Don’t miss the chance to savor this dish that perfectly blends tradition with innovation! Click here to learn more: https://lnkd.in/gUjZiuF
