This Wednesday, AbbVie’s Marketing and Business Insights team joined us to make a difference. Together, they packed 1,400 Snack Packs for students at Neal Math and Science Academy and prepared 1,200 Marshmallow & Peppermint packs for our Hot Cocoa Kits, complete with heartfelt notes to our dedicated teachers and staff. Mark your calendars for December 3rd! Giving Tuesday falls on the first Tuesday of December this year, and our goal is to raise $20,000 for our school-based food pantry, the Family Care Closet (FCC). In Lake County, 17,060 children face food insecurity and lack adequate access to food. To help combat this, North Chicago Community Partners’ Family Care Closet offers a safe and respectful place for families to “shop” twice a month. It is stocked with non-perishable food items, household and hygiene items, and even books and enrichment activities for students. Thank you, Grainger for making career exploration fun and exciting for our first graders at Evelyn and Forrestal Elementary! Today wraps up the Abbott iBIO series! Throughout this series, Abbott scientists have delivered a range of interesting #STEM courses to AJ Katzenmaier students in our After School Enrichment Program. These sessions covered intriguing subjects such as biometrics, chromatography, and electrical engineering. The students not only had a great time learning but also discovered how science plays a vital role in their everyday lives. We thank Abbott and their awesome volunteers for making this possible!

A huge thank you to our fabulous Grainger volunteers for assembling 350 Career Exploration Kits for the students of North Chicago! Each kit includes a storybook and six complementary activities that inspire students to explore careers such as firefighters, carpenters, astronauts, artists, chefs, and farmers. Tomorrow, these kits will be distributed to 1st grade students at Evelyn Alexander Elementary.   In addition, Grainger assembled 500 more Career Exploration kits in California and Missouri for their local schools! Last week, NCCP participated in its very own Team Building Olympics at Lake County Forest Preserve District! Games like NCCP trivia, extreme rock, paper, scissors, and icebreaker Jenga helped team members get to know each other and build personal connections. The NCCP team is now stronger than ever! #teambuilding #wearenccp
