The National Conference of Bar Presidents (NCBP) was founded in 1950 to provide information and training to state and local bar association leaders. Included among its many distinguished past presidents are former ABA Presidents Chesterfield Smith, Leonard Janofsky, George Bushnell, Bill Paul and Steven Zack.

It’s been a busy day at the second day of the 2024 Annual Meeting—robust and insightful programming, honoring the recipients of the 2024 Harrison Tweed Award and Gambrell Award, passing the gavel from Robin Wolpert to our 2024-25 president, Dan Cotter and swearing in the new executive council, and adoptable puppies at the afternoon sponsor break! AI, UPL, and Access to Justice - Minnesota State Bar Report As one of the first state bars to create a working group on artificial intelligence, the Minnesota State Bar Association recently released their report on how large language models (LLMs) might relate to lawyers’ ethical obligations under the rules of professional conduct and how they might be used to improve access to justice. Key recommendations include adopting a risk-based approach to utilizing LLMs in legal contexts, educating members, developing an access to justice legal sandbox and creating a Standing Committee on AI.
