Did you know pronghorns migrate over 300 miles every year? 🌐 Not only do pronghorns have the longest land migration in the continental United States, but they also are the fastest land animals in North America. Although pronghorns are not as fast as cheetahs, they can maintain a faster speed for a longer period of time than cheetahs. Pronghorn have large eyes and fantastic vision, they depend on their strong vision to communicate. If a pronghorn spots a predator, it raises the white rump hairs. They know that the signal means to be on alert—the danger is near. Fun fact: they are the second fastest land mammal in the world, after cheetahs. #wildlife #migration #pronghorn #conservation #funfact

A Colossal Need for Native Seed 🌱 Restoring wildlife habitat on fatigued public land starts with native seed—a commodity in short supply. Can the National Seed Strategy sow the grounds for success? The United States is home to nearly 17,000 native species of seed-bearing plants, including flowering plants and conifers. These organisms are indigenous to the regions where they have evolved over thousands of years and form the basis for an ecosystem’s food web. Grizz with the Rizz 🐻 Grizzly bears received their name because their brown fur can be tipped with white. This gives them a “grizzled” look, especially when backlit by the sun. It’s almost mating season for these furry predators — grizzly bears, a kind of brown bear, begin looking for mates in the spring and early summer as they come out of hibernation. While grizzly bears are omnivores and can eat a wide range of plants and animals, their diet often consists of 80-90% plants. #wildlife #bears #conservation #funfacts #nature #summer

50-Thousand Signatures for Wildlife! 🦎🐦🐟🦋🐾 NWF and our affiliates are heading to the Capitol this morning to advocate for the passage of the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act with the backing of 50-thousand supporters who have signed our petition so far. 📝 This is the most important wildlife legislation since passage of the Endangered Species Act nearly a half century ago. It invests in proactive, locally-led projects that will help conserve more than 12,000 animal and native plant species at heightened risk of extinction in the U.S. We will also be discussing other important issues with Congress today including the need for climate-smart and conservation funding in this year’s Farm Bill. Follow along on our Instagram and Facebook stories today to learn more! #Recovering #RecoveringAmericasWildlifeAct #Conservation #Wildlife #FarmBill
