Anyone else glued to the television this morning watching #TeamUSA win the Silver medal 🥈 in the team Jumping competition?! Wow, what a nail biter that was! And it’s been hard to concentrate ever since, dreaming of seeing the action at the Chateau de Versailles in person… Anyway, Friday grinds on! Congrats to the competitors, and stay tuned for more #Paris2024 Olympic action, with the individual competition resuming on August 5th! On this #welcomewednesday we are delighted to introduce Jim Doles, DVM, DACVS who has recently joined the team at McKinlay & Peters Equine Hospital, full-time! Dr. Doles brings a wealth of experience & expertise to the practice, and our network as a whole. For the last year he has served several practices in our group as a locum surgeon, and each one has felt extremely fortunate to have his assistance. Dr. Doles completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Idaho & his veterinary degree at Washington State University, so this is very much a homecoming! He also completed a two-year internship at Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital, a one-year clinical fellowship at Oregon State University & a surgical residency at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Doles is dedicated to providing top-notch care for our equine companions. Having worked in Arizona, Montana, Missouri, England, and most recently, Dubai, Dr. Doles has gained valuable experience in very diverse settings. Join us in welcoming him as he continues his commitment to equine health at MPEH! #fortheloveofhorses #nvacommunity #nvaequine #equinehealth #equinecareers #equinecommunity #equineveterinarian

And it's just about go time! 🏅#Paris2024 Next up for our #Olympics highlight is Dr. Susan Johns of Virginia Equine Imaging. Here's what the practice shared with us regarding her position as the US Eventing Team 🇺🇸 veterinarian: "Susan’s involvement at the Olympics reflects positively on the entire practice, highlighting our commitment to excellence and continuous improvement in equine sports medicine. The team eagerly follows her journey, celebrating her contributions and the impact they have on both the riders and horses striving for Olympic success. While Dr. Johns is away at the Olympics with Team USA, Virginia Equine Imaging supports her by maintaining seamless communication and providing remote consultation services as needed. The VEI team manages the regular operations at home ensuring her clients receive uninterrupted care. They regularly keep Dr. Johns updated on her cases. This support allows her to focus entirely on the Olympic horses, knowing her home based patients are in capable hands. Dr. Johns’ favorite part about being the veterinarian for the three day event horses for Team USA at the Olympics is the collaborative effort with her veterinary colleagues. Collectively they work to prepare the horses for peak performance, ensuring every aspect of their health and well-being is meticulously managed. The veterinarian’s role is integral to the team, combining expert medical care with strategic planning to support the horses’ performance and contribute to the team’s overall success. Moreover, being a key member of the support staff that helps the riders and horses achieve the dreams they have dedicated years to pursue is immensely rewarding. Dr. Johns will oversee the horses’ safe transport and accompany them on their flight to and from France. She will collaborate with the coaches and riders to adjust training regimes as needed to maintain peak fitness and readiness. Throughout the Games, she will be on-site at the venue with the horses to offer immediate medical care, perform routine checks and manage any emergencies. She will ensure the horses remain in optimal condition through all phases of the competition." Good luck to Dr. Johns and #TeamUSA, we'll be cheering loud stateside! 🇺🇸🥇 #fortheloveofhorses #nvacommunity #nvaequine #equinehealth #equinecareers #equinecommunity #equineveterinarian

Amidst the busy summer activities, we are delighted to extend a warm #welcomewednesday to our newest veterinarians! 📣🩺 Retama Equine Hospital welcomes Dr. Emily Wirth, a 2024 Texas A&M grad to the team! Dr. Wirth grew up in San Antonio and received her bachelor's degree in Animal Science from Texas Tech University. While at Tech, she competed on the equestrian team and worked in swine research. During undergrad, she completed a semester long internship at Peterson and Smith in the reproduction clinic before attending veterinary school at Texas A&M. Dr. Wirth has a strong interest in reproduction and sports medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, spending time with her dogs, and riding horses. We are very excited to have Dr. Wirth at our practice! 🐴 Miller & Associates is thrilled to welcome their newest Brewster associate, Dr. Allison Haspel! Dr. Haspel is originally from Manhasset, Long Island where she developed her relationship with horses through her endeavors competing on the Equitation circuit. Dr. Haspel was recruited to the University of Georgia for the NCAA Equestrian Team while completing her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. In true Georgia Dawg fashion, she continued her education at the University of Georgia for her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Haspel continued her post-graduate education by completing an Advanced Equine Field Internship in Lexington, Kentucky where she remained for an additional two years as an associate. Dr. Haspel has spent the last two years providing Sports Medicine services to five-star clientele in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Dr. Haspel’s clinical interests include sports medicine, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, ophthalmology, neonatology, theriogenology, and preventative medicine. Dr. Haspel continues to ride in her free time and enjoys the company of her now-retired Big Eq horse, Arion. Dr. Haspel loves hiking with her retired research beagle named Ellie, swimming, paddle boarding, scuba diving, enjoying live music, and spending time with family and friends. 🥾🐶🤿🎶 Abraham's Equine is super excited to welcome Dr. Kiersten Fevold and introduce her to the Eastern Iowa Equine Community! Dr. Fevold grew up in Story City, IA. She graduated veterinary school from Iowa State University in 2020. Following that, she completed an internship with Pine Ridge Equine Hospital in Glenpool, OK. She has spent the past 3 years as an equine veterinarian in Salem, WI. Dr. Fevold is excited to get back to her home state of IA. She enjoys all aspects of general equine practice but has a love for senior and metabolic horses. In her free time, Dr. Fevold enjoys working with her own horses, spending time with her dog and gardening. 🐕🌱 #fortheloveofhorses #nvacommunity #nvaequine #equinehealth #equinecareers #equinecommunity #equineveterinarian
