Providing leadership and support for the growth, innovation, quality and success of the PACE® Model of Care
About us
The National PACE Association (NPA) works to advance the efforts of Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE®) so older individuals can continue living in their community. The PACE model is centered on the belief that it is better for the well-being of seniors with chronic care needs and their families to be served in the community whenever possible. PACE serves individuals who are age 55 or over, certified by their state to need nursing home care, are able to live safely in the community at the time of enrollment, and live in a PACE service area. Although all PACE participants must be certified to need nursing home care to enroll in PACE, only about 7 percent of participants nationally reside in a nursing home.

“All communities have programs in which you can stitch together a low-income housing situation,” most of which are Medicaid-based, said H Frances Reaves, Esq., an elder law attorney and founder of Parent Your Parents, in a recent article in U.S. News & World Report. PACE "allows a senior to stay in their home and have a home health aide stop by two or three times a week."

The Older Americans Act (OAA) provides essential services to adults age 60 and over, as well as family caregivers and people with dementia. However, federal funding has not kept pace with the rapid growth of the 60-plus population and is not keeping up with inflation. AARP says increased funding could be allocated to better support family caregivers, help older adults live at home, and more. #OlderAmericansAct
