Keys to the Keystone State A New York Times/Philadelphia Inquirer/Siena College poll of Pennsylvania voters (Sept. 11-16; 1,082 LVs; +/-3.8%) found Vice President Kamala Harris leading former President Trump in a head-to-head race in the Keystone State, 50%-46%, with 4% undecided. These Pennsylvania results are unchanged from the previous iteration of the poll from August. – Zachary Weisz 👉 Subscribe to Hotline's Poll Track newsletter for a curated look at the week's most interesting polls: https://lnkd.in/en9UDrCX

Nearly two years into the generative AI revolution, the technology is already reshaping the 2024 election through disinformation campaigns, while also posing risks that extend far beyond politics. 🔑 Election Impact: AI-generated disinformation is being used by candidates and foreign intelligence services alike. In recent months, Donald Trump used a deepfake of Taylor Swift, and Elon Musk shared an AI-manipulated video of Kamala Harris. California has responded by passing legislation to ban election deepfakes and regulate AI-generated media. ⚠️ Weapons of Mass Destruction: OpenAI has flagged its latest model as having a “medium risk” of being used to develop chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear weapons—posing the highest risk of any of its models to date. 🏛️ Legislative Action: Despite these risks, federal AI regulation remains stalled, with no immediate path to passage. Meanwhile, California’s S.B. 1047, which could increase AI safety measures, awaits Gov. Gavin Newsom’s decision. 👇 Read The Leading Edge from PolicyView: AI editor Philip Athey below. #AI #AIPolicy #Election2024 #TechPolicy #AIRegulation #Deepfakes #SB1047

It's been a wild week in North Carolina politics, as CNN reported that Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson (R) posted more inflammatory comments online, this time on a porn site. It only adds to the intrigue in the presidential race there. Democrats haven't won the state since former President Obama did so in 2008, and Robinson's issues may have further opened the door. The problem for Vice President Kamala Harris: Democrats need to stop losing rural voters in the Tar Heel State. My piece for National Journal. https://lnkd.in/e-rPgwdY
