It's hard to believe it's been a month since we all got together for #NACE24! While we're definitely looking forward to seeing everyone again next year, we aren't quite ready to close the book on our adventures in Phoenix! P.S. If you see someone you know, make sure you tag them!

On college campuses, student perception about how they’re treated throughout candidate experience can influence that employer’s “brand” on campus, and employers who regularly exceed expectations are more likely to have success attracting top talent, according to research done by Scott Resource Group. https://ow.ly/hNNf50Sowji

While generative AI tools may have increased in popularity recently, career educators must work with students to ensure that they are aware of its limitations, such as a loss of personalization and potential bias in the program itself. https://ow.ly/lX3S50SovG1

Recent NACE research has found that the gender pay gap continues to exist as a form of systematic inequality in the labor market and appears to be widening. Knowing this, both college career services and employers must take proactive steps to eliminate this disparity. https://ow.ly/Qwq650QRB9v

I am so excited, honored and humbled to have this opportunity to serve the profession and the association that I have loved for so long. The outgoing board of directors set the bar high, and I look forward to working with the incoming board that is comprised of strategic and innovative leaders. And, of course, we could not be successful in our work without the talented and dedicated NACE staff! Special thanks for the great leadership of Stephanie Pallante, current Chair, and Brian Guerrero, Past-Chair for your mentorship and support.
Later this month, the NACE Board of Directors will meet for the first time this fiscal year, which will mark the start of term for our incoming board members, including 2024-25 chair Tim Harding. At #NACE24, Tim provided attendees with an overview of his goals for the upcoming year, including the continued exploration of technology, particularly artificial intelligence, and the role it will play in the early career space and developing a common language that can be used between colleges and employers, all while keeping NACE on the cutting edge of research. Thank you to our outgoing board members, especially outgoing chair Stephanie Pallante! Our organization is indebted to your service!

Today, July 9th as part of Black Women's Equal Pay Day, I participated in a National Association of Colleges and Employers panel on Closing the Pay Gap with Dawn Carter Mary Gatta Addye Buckley-Burnell Chantelle Wright, Ed.D. We had a great time sharing what we can do as individuals and in our organizations to create work environments supporting pay equity. We discussed pay transparency, positioning yourself for career advancement, understanding how compensation and advancements work at your organization, and advocating and owning your career path. I shared a few resources today. First, my pay equity group's state job offer guides, https://lnkd.in/e_tSDNYF We now have all 50 states up. Second, my group's resources on intersectionality, which include information about the pay gap by ethnicity, https://lnkd.in/eDWx8xHs Lastly, I recommended a book by Elaine Lin Hering, Unlearning Silence: How to Speak Your Mind, Unleash Talent, and Live More Fully. And if you haven't read the article that I cowrote with Mary Gatta on how how to move pay equity efforts forward, take a look https://lnkd.in/ee_QGaWq #payequity #blackwomenequalpayday #equalpayday

Allyship can look, sound, and feel different to everyone in the LGBTQ+ community, which means it may not always be overt and can make it hard to define. Because of this, allies should consider the wants or needs of an individual or community before taking action. https://ow.ly/jwmG50ShfTM
