This week's Water Champion is Shannon Maceiko, an associate engineer working at #PureWaterSoCal. She is helping revolutionize the recycled water industry through her work on this innovative purification technology. An associate engineer within the Water Purification Unit and the Water Reuse & Process Development Team, Shannon works with other engineers and technicians at the Grace F. Napolitano Pure Water Southern California Innovation Center in Carson. She manages the laboratory at the state-of-the-art demonstration plant, which produces 500,000 gallons of purified water per day to test an innovative purification technology for a proposed full-scale program that would create a new, climate-resilient water supply for the region. Certified as a drinking water treatment operator and a drinking water distribution operator, Shannon’s job is all encompassing. She prepares reports, reviews technical documents, conducts routine monitoring and manages chemical contracts. She also leads studies to provide accurate and reliable results, ensuring compliance with all current and future water quality regulations. #WaterChampions #WomeninWater #CAWater #WorkerMonday

Our limnologists are scientists who monitor the water quality in our reservoirs, like this one at Lake Mathews. They can dive down to 100 feet to gather samples that they analyze in our water quality lab to ensure the highest water quality. We thank Kelly, Jennifer, Matt, Kenneth and all our amazing #WaterProfessionals for their tireless dedication to Metropolitan’s mission. Want to join our team? We’re hiring for an assistant limnologist! Keep a look out for the job posting this November. #CAWaterWeek #QuenchCA #CAWater #WaterProfessionalsAppreciationWeek
