About us
Established in 1885 to professionalize the county’s practice of law, the Montgomery Bar Association (MBA) is one of our nation’s oldest and most respected bar associations, representing over 2,000 legal professionals in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Now, as then, the MBA exists to uphold legal and ethical standards in our legal community. As the 3rd largest Bar in Pennsylvania, the MBA has a longstanding tradition of service to its membership and the community. For members, the MBA offers an important arena for networking, professional development and education. For the community, the MBA serves as a legal resource offering education, legal assistance and funds and resources for agencies in need. The Association is actively engaged in public service through community outreach, free educational events offered throughout the year, programs like the Liberty and Law Civics Education Project, the Mock Trial Competitions for high-school students, the Montgomery Child Advocacy Project and more. The Norristown Hospitality Center was created from true and simple love for people. It is a home during the day for anyone who otherwise would be left hungry, weary or living on the streets. The Hospitality Center is a low-barrier day shelter that provides free services to anyone in need. This afternoon, members of our Young Lawyers Section and Board of Directors teamed up and put together dozens of freshly bagged lunches that will be given out to clients of the Norristown Hospitality Center. Kudos to all of you who assisted as our busy May Month of Service rolls on!

Another EPIC double-header in Norristown yesterday, starting with a luncheon program hosted by our Family Law Section. This program featured an all-star panel of judges and attorneys who provided useful tips, tricks and insight on impending changes to Adoption Practice in Montgomery County. The second, hosted by our Solo and Small Firm Practice Committee & Magisterial District Judge Practice Committee, featured a panel of our newly-elected MDJs who shared insight into how they run their courtrooms, best practices for appearing before them, and tips for success. A light reception followed. HUGE thanks to yesterday's panelists and organizers for putting together these important programs -- and to our co-sponsors Meridian Bank and Withum [ Advisory | Tax | Audit ] for allowing us to continue offering programs like these so affordably. Members, as always, please keep those who support your bar association in mind when seeking personal or professional services!

What a start it's been for our Young Lawyers Section: with the high school Mock Trials underway, a landmark Ski Trip, and an epic kickoff yesterday to their new 101 CLE Series (open to all attorneys, btw). Special thanks to Presenter and Family Law Section Chair Elizabeth Early, Esq. of Boyd & Early Family Law, LLC and the Young Lawyer's own Gregory Gilston, Esq. of Gilston Legal PLLC for Moderating. And of course, a big thanks to YLS Chair Robert M. Sebia, Esq. of Elliott Greenleaf P.C. for a great start to 2024, and to the good folks at Withum Advisory, Tax and Audit for their generous support.
