New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is building back safer, stronger, and smarter by improving structural resiliency and infrastructure protection at Coney Island Sites (Surfside, O’Dwyer, Site 8) 🌊🏢. NYCHA's Recovery and Resiliency Department (R&R) is pushing design boundaries in building reinforcements, storm surge protection, and infrastructure upgrades.

Recent Updates:
- Renovated basketball court and seating area at Surfside & O’Dwyer Gardens 🏀
- Sidewalk restoration at Coney Island Site 8 🚶♂️
Ongoing Activities:
- Installation G13of signage at new utility annexes 🔧
- Exterior lighting and control sensors at Surfside Gardens and O’Dwyer Gardens 💡
- Trench work at Site 8 and O’Dwyer Gardens for West 35th Street crossing 🚧
- Installation of window frames around Surfside Gardens buildings 1 (2960) and 2 (2950)
- Corrective work at O’Dwyer Gardens building 1: widening of ramp, repair of entryway, and stairs 🛠️
- Temporary closure of West 33rd Street (between Mermaid Ave and Surf Ave) for steam pipe installation work every weekday from 7 am to 3:30 pm 🛑
- Construction of new utility annexes at O’Dwyer, Surfside, and Site 8, including installation of façade panels 🎨, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment, and concrete masonry units (CMU) 🏢
