Yesterday, the largest shipment in MIRO's history left our lab, marking a new milestone. Having the instruments in less than 2 months after they were ordered, leaving MIRO, was a great success for everyone at MIRO! We could only achieve this thanks to the enormous efforts of our production team Bo-Jung Chen, Jiří Hlubuček Konrad Ritter, Michael Haenisch, Oleg Aseev and Peter ❤️!

Naarasneva measuring station got new research infrastructure today: MIRO continuous N2H and CH4 measures. This time co-funded by the European Union in TUPSU project. Continuous CO2 concentration have already been measured in afforestated cutaway peatland in TURNEE project since 2021 funded by Finnish Ministry on Agriculture and Forestry in Catch the carbon program. It is good to see that air quality in Zurich is improving. But work remains to be done. We are proud to support our customer Amt für Abfall, Wasser, Energie und Luft (AWEL), Kanton Zürich in their mission for cleaner air with state of the art measurement technology.
Verbesserung der #Luftqualität lohnt sich. 🌪 🍃 Die Luftqualität im Kanton Zürich und der Ostschweiz verbessert sich seit Jahrzehnten, vor allem beim Feinstaub und den Stickoxiden. Das zeigt der Jahresbericht 2023 von #OSTLUFT. Dadurch sinken die volkswirtschaftlichen #Gesundheitskosten der Luftbelastung. Noch ist die Luftqualität aber nicht ausreichend gut, um die Bevölkerung vor schädlichen Gesundheitsfolgen durch #Luftbelastung zu schützen. Vor allem bei Ozon, Ammoniak und Russ ist die Belastung noch zu hoch. Es braucht deshalb weitere Anstrengungen zur Verbesserung der Luftqualität. Check out MIRO's successes at the #bike2work event. We are happy to report that despite the rainy weather, our team used the bike more than 75% of the time and cycled an impressive 1,541 km. As all our team members already used to cycle to work before the event, nobody really switched from car to bike and therefore we didn't really reduce our CO2 emissions ;) Nevertheless, these 222 kg of CO2 encourage us to keep going, especially for the next rainy days... #MIROAnalytical #BikeToWork #Sustainability #ClimateAction #EcoFriendly

To evaluate gas exchanges between ecosystems or urban areas and the atmosphere, high-time resolution wind data have to be measured together with high precision concentrations (#EddyCovariance approach). Besides a gas analyzer providing high precision and high sampling rate, as MIRO's MGA, an anemometer is required for the wind data. We are thankful to our friends from Metek GmbH for providing us with their ultrasonic anemometer to establish a precise synchronization which is crucial for accurate results. At MIRO Analytical, we are committed to fostering sustainable practices that contribute to the global effort against climate change. That's why MIRO joined the BikeToWork campaign in 2024. The transportation sector is a significant contributor to global carbon emissions, with surface traffic contributing 27%. A substantial portion of these emissions comes from short journeys, most of which are less than 10km. These short journeys are easily cyclable, making cycling an effective strategy to reduce carbon emissions. Research indicates that switching just one trip per day from car driving to cycling for 200 days of the year can save approximately 0.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. By choosing to cycle, we can collectively reduce our carbon footprint, contribute to cleaner air, and promote a healthier lifestyle.
