🚀🎉 The Micron Foundation and the Girl Scouts of Japan have launched a new leader’s handbook to boost Japanese girls’ access to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and careers. The handbook provides step-by-step guidance for leaders and educators working with Girl Scouts to support their interest and increase access to hands on experiential STEM learning. To celebrate the launch, we worked with the Girl Scouts of Japan to host an event focused on robotics and computer systems for K-12 girls. The event featured inspiring talks from program participants who have received the Girl Scout STEM badges, Micron Technology leadership and female faculty members from leading universities from the UPWARDS for the Future Network. We are dedicated to inspiring young girls' interests in STEM and technology careers of the future. Another amazing example of bringing STEM education to students around the world, this time in Guajarat, India! These tinkering labs allow girls from rural areas to get their hand on STEM, close to where they live and go to school. Breaking down barriers and creating pathways to strong careers are things we are glad to partner with the Learning Links Foundation to do! Shout out to Antara Lahiri and Moira Dawa at our Micron Technology India site for driving this program and helping with this great write up!
We collaborated with Micron Foundation to set up STEM Labs in under-resourced schools in Gujarat to help inculcate life skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, cooperation, resilience and empathy amongst the students. STEM is everywhere and so are we!! Such an amazing time bringing the very first STEM of Sports Academy to life with Syracuse University! We are all about meeting students where they are to inspire them to pursue a future in STEM - even on basketball courts, on tracks and in football arenas. Team work makes the dream work - on and off the field!
Excited to report on the fabulous first ever Micron Foundation’s STEM of Sports Academy with Syracuse University. Students engaged in activities around physics; the importance and safety of helmets; visits to makerspaces; engineering of race cars; and engaging with esports. Our goal is to build STEM Identity and STEM Literacy to high school students who may not see the importance of STEM in sports. We want to promote STEM in all areas of development. Great collaboration with Dr. Salatha Willis, Andre Sims Jr, Dr. Cindy Smith, Aliyah Wade, Robert Simmons III, Jesse McMahon and Syracuse University College of Engineering. Thank you to everyone for their support but especially to the Syracuse University student athletes who brought their time and energy to high school students.

We love when our work meets new audiences and new students! Amazing work happening at our Micron Technology site in San Jose to increase access to STEM education and inspire girls to pursue a future career in technology! #GirlsGoingTech
Did you know? In the workforce, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders’ comprised 0.2% of scientists and engineers (NSF) and 34% of women make up the #STEM workforce (AAUW). That’s why today was a special one for the books as I led Micron Foundation’s first Girls Going Tech in California with P.I.E.F.E.S.T. I’ve been so grateful to the close partnership with Folola Malele and Matthew Malele in particular - and their thoughtfulness and leadership in their community. Phewww - this event was no easy task, but we pushed through those waves together and brought 25+ #Pasifika girls to Micron Technology’s San Jose site. We had an inspirational keynote from Violet Wulf-Saena as she shared wisdom on the effects of climate change and the need for environmental justice for our diverse communities. Then after a site tour, her organization, Climate Resilient Communities led a garden water activity and Cathy Ammirati led a fun human neural AI activity. We also had a boss lineup of STEM college students (from UC Davis, UC Berkeley, USF, SF State, and more!) join us in a speed mentoring session with the girls giving them a glimpse into higher ed, and an all-star PI female panel revealing to us their personal STEM journeys (Celeste Fa'ai'uaso, Lisa Flores, Maria Takapu, Alice Sanchez) facilitated by superstar Carl Johnson with @pasifika by design podcast. Always love our volunteers but this group was especially A++++++ 💯💯💯💯💯 - Beatrice van de Waerdt Mehr Dewan Tomoko Iwaski Ray Murakami Clarissa Franke Xinyi Wang Sai Sindhuja Thirumala Julia Sulisthio Michelle Ha-Rim Kim Vina N. Last week we were in Atlanta, and this week we are back to Central New York to host our first Chip Camp with Le Moyne College! We also have highlights from our California and Idaho signature programs on the way - stay tuned to enjoy more summer of STEM highlights!
It’s one of our favorite times of the year: Summer program season at Le Moyne College! A highlight of day one was welcoming our newest students from Onondaga Central & Lafayette Central Schools! Also new this year: We are partnering with the Micron Foundation to bring their renowned Chip Camp program to our Middle school students here on campus! This dynamic three-day program aligns perfectly with our program, as it introduces students to the world of semiconductor manufacturing and engineering through hands-on STEM activities. We can’t wait to share all the action with you over the next few weeks 🎉

The first Chip Camp Atlanta of 2024 is in the books! We love to see smiling faces and hands-on STEM activities facilitated by community partnerships and our Micron Technology volunteers!
I am thrilled to share the success of ANOTHER Micron Foundation Chip Camp. In Atlanta, a fantastic collaboration with STE(A)M Truck and the YMCA East Lake location. Over three days, students dove into the world of electronics, engaging in hands on activities like creating and building circuits and soldering. It was inspiring to see so many young minds light up with curiosity and enthusiasm as they explored the wonders of technology. Our dedicated Micron Technology engineers and enthusiastic interns were on hand to guide and mentor the students. Thank you Marsha Francis, Ph.D., the STE(A)M Truck Team, and the YMCA East Lake for partnering with us to make this event possible. Together we are paving the way for the next generation of innovators and problem solvers. #microntechnology #ChipCamp #FutureEngineers #STEAMTruck #YMCAEastLake

June was a very busy month for us here at the Foundation, and our global reach expanded even further into a new country, and a new community!! Proud to see Robert Simmons III, our dedicated team members, partners and volunteers bring access to STEM education and hands on learning to students near our newest Micron Technology site in Guadalajara, Mexico!
One of the most impressive things about community engagement isn’t what you teach young people, but what young people teach you…and what Syracuse and Central New York have taught us at Micron Foundation and Micron Technology. Our STEM collaborations throughout North America aim to bring young people together. Whether it’s Guadalajara, Mexico, Boise, Atlanta, or North Syracuse, the future of STEM is bright!!!
