This year, back-to-school season also means back-to-an-election season. And so we have a responsibility to cover election happenings as much as possible. This means we’ll not only cover local news, but also try to make sense of national news and how it affects our community. We’ll present you with the facts in a way you can understand, so that you can draw your own conclusions. Producing independent journalism isn't cheap. We're proud to offer our coverage without a paywall, and recently introduced a website redesign to reduce pop-up ads in order to improve your online experience as you read our news. But we could not erase this main point: We can not rely solely on advertising support to keep us moving forward. Today marks the first day of our summer membership drive — and we have big plans. From August 5-25, we’re aiming to raise $7,000 to help our newsroom provide crucial coverage during this unprecedented election cycle, and we are asking for your support. Join our membership program by contributing any amount to support our newsroom — and you’ll get cool perks! An award-winning burger restaurant from New York City that's known for its outlandish shakes has just opened in Brickell, and the shakes already look as wild as ever. New York City-based Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer has just opened its first Florida location in Brickell at Brickell City Centre next to the CMX movie theater on the fourth floor. As the name implies, Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer means business when it comes to its craft burgers. So much so, that the restaurant's creative, cheese-covered burgers have even taken home the award of "Best Burger" multiple times at the New York City Wine & Food Festival Burger Bash competition, among other juicy accolades. Just for those visiting the new restaurant in Miami, Black Tap is featuring a new "Frita Cubana" burger in honor of Miami's Cuban heritage made with sofrito butter and shoestring fries, and the "Black Bean" burger made with salsa verde, charred corn, and pickled onions on Dave’s Killer Bread.

Last Monday's record as the hottest day on Earth since the 1940s was disheartening news for Miamians battling heat advisories since early May. While we've given up on the sun sparing South Florida (at this point, even your curandera has tried), New Times has some cold, sweet, creamy news that'll bring you some relief. The MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM (MOIC) is returning to the Magic City, and this time it's for good. The sweets-based experience will open on September 6 at Miami Worldcenter and promises to be MOIC's tastiest iteration yet. A two-story, 14,000-square-foot space will expand on the museum's earlier Miami ventures — a six-month Miami Beach pop-up in 2017 that saw thousands of visitors and a 2022 weekend-long pool party hosted at the Beach's Hotel Greystone — and feature new exhibitions and treats inspired by the 305. 🍦 Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gXJ4WKdV

Nestled within one of Miami's most historic communities, Little River has been a prime location for development in recent years. Comprising roughly 24 acres, the neighborhood is seeing rapid change through commercial and residential investment, with comparisons to Wynwood's transformation bandied about. An influx of restaurants and art venues has now landed Little River on TravelMag's list of "most up-and-coming" places in the U.S. The magazine picked out rising neighborhoods from major cities across the nation and featured them in the July article, running through cultural hotspots and foodie destinations. TravelMag highlighted the area's lure for entrepreneurs and artists aspiring to open up galleries or art spaces in Miami. "Once an industrial hive, this area north of Little Haiti and trendy Wynwood is now a magnet for entrepreneurs and artists readapting industrial buildings and art spaces and galleries opening. A major attraction, The Citadel is a rooftop food hall where dining meets shopping and entertainment," author Tracy Kaler wrote. View the other 15 neighborhoods that were recognized:

The luxury real estate market in Miami-Dade County is not letting up even as broad-market home sales slow owing to higher mortgage rates and affordability gaps. The ultra-wealthy continued to snap up and offload properties in the affluent neighborhoods of Fisher Island, Coral Gables, and islands off Miami Beach. Cash buyers have been driving prices higher within the high-end home market. A Redfin report published in April found that in the first quarter, luxury real estate prices and luxury home sales nationwide increased nine percent and two percent year over year, respectively. Non-luxury home sales decreased by four percent in that period. From a seven-bedroom modern waterfront estate in Miami Beach to a 7,000-square-foot penthouse in Fisher Island, here is a rundown of the five priciest home sales we logged in Miami-Dade County in June. If you have any info on off-market sales or other mega-mansions recently sold, drop us a line.
