Our amazing partnership with Fanuc has spanned 31 years - but our relationship with them started much earlier in the late 1970’s when we partnered together on some of the first Fanuc CNC’s in the USA. Graphite is one of the softest materials on the Mohs Hardness Scale—a 1.5 out of 10 (somewhere between talc and gypsum). Due to its softness, cutting and machining graphite presents many challenges. It is strong, but brittle, and very likely to chip if not handled with precision. This requires shops to cut at a slower feed rate than metal cutting.
