Recently Medica earned the status of becoming a Beyond The Yellow Ribbon 🎗️company--joining less than 100 companies across the state of Minnesota to receive this prestigious title for supporting our active duty and veteran employees in their roles across our teams. Last week our Medicaid Community Engagement team headed up north for a little field trip to the Little Falls library 📚 to host one of our regular Medicaid member meetings. We were joined by our President and CEO Lisa Erickson along with representatives from Morrison County. Lunch was served to all and we were able to chat with members about their Medica benefits, discuss ideas on how to provide better access to health equity and learned more about our members' mental health and wellness needs. We love doing these member outreach events!

Medica is honored to share that we became a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon company this week--we join less than 100 organizations across the state of Minnesota to accomplish this great achievement. It took more than 4 years to earn this title--many thanks to the amazing employees and executives of our Medica Salutes Employee Resource Group--who lead the work on securing Medica as a BTYR company. We appreciate the attendance and remarks from the Office of Governor Tim Walz & Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan as well as Major General Johanna Clyborne from the Minnesota National Guard, Hennepin County Commissioner Heather Edelson, Representative Patty Acomb and Minnetonka City Council Member Paula Ramaley. To become a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon company-- our organization was recognized for our efforts to raise awareness and connect service members and their families with community support, training, services, and resources--all values we hold dear here at Medica. We also had a Veterans Vendor Resource Fair in our conservatory cafe to promote veteran owned businesses and services during the event.

We don't have to tell you twice--food prices are high right now at the grocery store 🛒 and elsewhere. A lot of families are having to choose between rent, keeping the 💡 on and food on the table--it shouldn't be this way. What does a health insurance company have to do with food security? 🔉 🔊 We are proud to share that we have landed on Forbes' annual ranking of the "Best Employers by State." Medica is among the top 10 employers with headquarters in Minnesota. Forbes surveyed more than 160,000 employees at companies with more than 500 people. Respondents evaluated their current employers, employers they'd worked with in the past two years and organizations they knew through their industry. School 🏫 is starting back up for many districts in the area and we know how critical supporting mental health is for our youth. This week our team traveled to Valley City, North Dakota to support a significant financial contribution towards helping students access mental health services right from their school with licensed professionals in a private setting instead of missing classes to travel off-campus for appointments during the week. This program could be a game-changer for communities across North Dakota and other rural areas that are trying to help reduce the youth mental health crisis. Mission + Purpose: these are the reasons we are here at Medica! Earlier this week thousands of our employees gathered together for Town Hall events across our hubs to enjoy some great summer food from our food truck extravaganza 🌽 🌮 🍗 🍧 and to embrace our new mission as you see below: "To better your life with care in the moments that matter: personal, connected, cared for."
