The program prepares high-potential employees for leadership roles through instructor-led classes and a dynamic curriculum. Participants learn to refine their management skills, take on greater challenges, and expand their capacity to lead. Eligibility for the LEAD Program is open to all MasTec Utility Services, MasTec Professional Services, Energy Erectors, Maslonka, and Biggs Construction field and office employees. Team members who participate in the program attend classes in the location that is most convenient for them. Participants are nominated by current MasTec leadership. INTREN’s Nik Brown and Zach Haddican talked to the shop classes at Appleton East High School about getting into the trades, the ups and downs of it, the opportunities that are out there, and the futures they can build for themselves.

The MasTec companies were in attendance for the gala of the American Cancer Society in St. Louis. MasTec’s Senior Vice President Steven Luetkehans, INTREN’s Chief Operating Officer Matthew Turk, and INTREN’s VP of Operations Andy Carmean showed up to represent MasTec for such a wonderful cause.

On Sunday, November 3, most of those in the U.S. will turn their clocks back one hour for the end of Daylight Savings Time. Safety incidents increase as the days grow darker - visibility decreases and people become drowsier at this time of year. Keep the following details in mind when switching back to standard time: FATIGUE — You may feel sluggish next week. Studies suggest that it takes people who work traditional hours several days to fully readjust their sleep schedule after the time change. INCIDENTS — Just being aware of the increased risk of incidents at this time may help you stay alert. Avoid building up a sleep debt in the days leading up to the time change. I’m excited to kick off my first IEEE PES Insulated Conductors Committee meeting as part of the Executive Committee this week (currently serving as Second Vice Chair), 12 years after my very first ICC meeting (also along Florida’s west coast).
