The AI revolution is unfolding inside the world’s largest data centers. What we know as the cloud is transforming into the “AI cloud” as general-purpose servers are displaced in part by AI accelerator-powered servers. But the revolution is about more than raw computational power. Modern data centers need to be meticulously optimized to meet the unique demands of AI. Data centers must also be agile—able to quickly scale out to keep pace with the growing demands of AI applications. Such optimization requires symphony-like orchestration of compute, connectivity and storage—accelerated infrastructure. To learn more about Accelerated Infrastructure for the AI Era, please visit the Marvell website (link in comments below).

Electrical Engineer Intern @Marvell | Electrical and Computer Engineering Graduate @Cornell University | Electrical Engineering & Commerce Minor @UBC

Just returned to Cornell University for my final term, and I’m reflecting on an incredible three months as an Electrical Engineer at Marvell Technology. It feels like a dream come true! During my internship, I had the opportunity to develop an Evaluation Board using Cadence to integrate and test four key chips used in an Optical Transceiver system. I also implemented a Wire Bonding strategy with Allegro PCB Designer to integrate the new generation of Silicon Photonics Chips onto the existing Evaluation Board. This significantly reduced both design time and production costs. I learned so much during this experience and am grateful for the mentorship and guidance I received. A huge thank you to my VP, Bruno Tourette, who is one of the most knowledgeable people I’ve ever met—he’s been not only a manager but a mentor to me. Special thanks to Shaozhen Ma, Ruslana Bukina, charles ji and Linda Liu for patiently answering all my questions. Looking forward to what’s next! 😊

Question of the day: will AI and ML finally make fuel cells a profitable business after 186 years of failure? Here's the scenario. AI and ML models are getting huge, so huge that individual data centers don't have the power capacity to run them. Thus, training has to be split up among locations. (See link below to a great Cignal AI webinar on the topic.) Getting grid capacity, however, is not easy. Small, modular nuclear? Not feasible in the lifetime of anyone old enough to read this so that's out. Solar and batteries? The best bet, but it works best when centralized, which means grids. It's the long-term winner with a short-term problem. That brings us back to fuel cells. Despite fan boy optimism, Bloom Energy and others still lose money at staggering rates and the cost isn't declining at solar and wind rates. (The biggest price "drop" comes by removing inverters from the list price.) No company has ever made money on them consistently since they were invented in 1838. (Looking at you Eric Wesoff) But they don't need a power grid: just a gas grid. And they can be locally deployed on prem. Will data centers be willing to cough up the cost? Or will long- and short-duration batteries beat them to the punch? Class, discuss. https://lnkd.in/g9djxaem

5th Ph.D. student majored in mixed-signal designs (high speed ADCs)

I really enjoyed the 12 weeks I spent interning at Marvell Technology this summer. It was a fantastic experience where I met and worked with many excellent IC engineers. During my internship, I contributed to the temperature compensation of PLL and a high-speed TI-SAR ADC. I am extremely grateful for the guidance and help I received from the team in helping me understand the project steps and how the works impact data infrastructure applications. I am especially thankful to Manisha Gambhir for offering me the opportunity to intern at Marvell and for the invaluable knowledge I gained Looking forward to applying all of the acquired knowledge and experience to future projects and positions! #Internship #semiconductor

Techwomen Mentor, 2022 SVBJ WOI honoree, MSc from University of Lancaster, Massey University

🎉 Thrilled to share that I finally participated in Marvell’s “Battlebots and Brownies” event this week! This team-building tradition has been around for years, but it was my first time joining in. During a lunch with a fellow Marvell Technology TechWomen mentor - Navaz Lulla, we talked about how events like this could be great for TechWomen. Next thing I know, I’m joining Team RDC—a powerhouse team from another business unit—to compete in the afternoon match! Our team not only became the first to complete the assembly, but we also took home the win! 🏆 It was an exhilarating experience to be part of such a strong and successful team, all thanks to the power of TechWomen networking. Looking forward to more team-building moments and victories like this! #TeamBuilding #Marvell #TechWomen #Networking #MarvellCulture #BattlebotsAndBrownies #Winners

Industry’s 1st 800G ZR/ZR+ pluggable demonstration for 500km data center interconnects. Marvell, Lumentum and Coherent Corp. announce the successful interoperability demonstration of 800G ZR/ZR+ optical modules over transmission links up to 500km. This achievement demonstrates that multivendor standards-based pluggable modules can interoperate while achieving the performance required for data center interconnects between regional cloud data centers spanning distances up to 500km, an industry first for 800G.
