In 2002, the Marklund Hyde Center welcomed Illinois’ first Miracle League baseball field, purposefully designed to accommodate wheelchairs and other mobility aids. The field has become a beloved part of our Geneva campus, used for a variety of day service activities, community events, and the popular summer baseball games! However, after 22 years of dedicated use, the Miracle League field and dugouts display wear and tear, marked by cracks and uneven surfaces. Now, Marklund has made it our priority to resurface this central space – ensuring the continued safety and enjoyment of our residents, clients, students, staff, and volunteers. From July 1-31, Marklund invites YOU to join our “Marklund Major League” to help make it possible for us to create a new and improved field for our residents and friends! The Fighting Irish were well represented at the Marklund Hyde Center in Geneva today as members of the Aurora/Fox Valley Notre Dame Club volunteered for a fun and fast-moving Marklund-style baseball game! The bats were swinging, balls flying, and athletes hustling around the bases with the help of some old and new friends.
