As more Nigerians feel empowered to confront corruption without fear of repercussions, more are refusing to pay bribes and reporting such requests to authorities. The third National Corruption Survey from the National Bureau of Statistics Nigeria and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime found fewer Nigerians reported negative consequences after refusing a bribe in 2023 than in 2019. Free bikes have contributed to a “safer, more accessible urban environment” for nearly 1,900 Chicagoans.
