About us

For over 100 years, the LA Phil has embodied the spirit of Los Angeles. Guided by our commitment to innovation, excellence, and access, the LA Phil operates four major venues: Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, The Ford, and the Beckmen YOLA Center in Inglewood. At our core is our orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, whose brilliant performances and dedication to the future of music led The New Yorker’s Alex Ross to declare it “so far ahead of other American orchestras that it is in competition mainly with its own past achievements.” We bring the same principles to YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles), our music learning program which has provided instruments, education, and opportunities to thousands of students and families in LA. On stage, off stage, and in the community, the LA Phil’s work reflects the incredible array of music and cultures that have shaped Los Angeles, and the power of music to inspire and connect people.

At the LA Phil, the passions and stories of our team continually inspire us, and Bryan Namba is a great example. As our HR Business and EDI Partner by day, Bryan brings an incredible dedication to building an inclusive culture. By night, he’s channeling that same commitment into his artistry with TAIKOPROJECT Academy, sharing the power of taiko drumming with audiences across LA.   Bryan describes taiko as more than just a performance—it's a deep connection to heritage, community, and self. He has been playing since childhood, finding strength, focus, and unity with each beat. Whether connecting with his Japanese American roots or energizing his fellow musicians, Bryan’s journey speaks to the transformative power of art.   Curious about Bryan’s story and his love for taiko? Read on to explore his reflections on culture, identity, and the rhythmic power of drumming: Drumming with a Pulse   #LAPhil #TAIKOPROJECT #Community #Arts

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting a lovely panel discussion for students from Scripps College as part of their Career Exploration and Networking Trek. Moderated by HR Business Partner Amber Blanco, the panel featured six women from the LA Phil's various teams and departments, including Philanthropy, Programming, Learning, Marketing, and Operations. Reflecting on their unique education and career paths that led them to Los Angeles, our panelists shared valuable insights on professional development, mentorship, work-life balance, and what it's like to work for a large non-profit organization. Thank you to all the participants who volunteered their time to engage in this wonderful experience: · Sienna Garcia - Parking and Traffic Assistant, Hollywood Bowl Operations · Genevieve Goetz - Director, Gift Planning · Tara Gardner - Senior Manager, Digital Marketing · Piper Starnes - Creative Copywriter · Stephanie Yoon - Manager, Artist Services · Julie West - Facilities Manager, Beckmen YOLA Center We're already looking forward to organizing more events like this in the future and continuing to build relationships with the next generation of leaders—stay tuned!
