This Scripps Institution of Oceanography Wave Glider just got deployed in beautiful Seward, #Alaska. Over the next three months, the Wave Glider will acoustically offload data from six seafloor-mounted Sonardyne International Ltd Fetch responders located off the Aleutian Islands and combine this data with high-precision GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) location information. Starliner is now on its way to the International Space Station with astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams on board. The undulating tow cable serves as a buffer to ensure a smooth and stable ride for the payload. Just another day at sea…. #multitasking. This #WaveGlider is diligently collecting data for the Ocean Tracking Network off Nova Scotia, Canada. Equipped with a fluorometer, CTD+DO, and an ADCP, the Wave Glider is gathering in-situ data during the ongoing Spring Bloom. The Spring Bloom in the North Atlantic Ocean is an annual occurrence when high concentrations of phytoplankton can be observed.
