This Scripps Institution of Oceanography Wave Glider just got deployed in beautiful Seward, #Alaska. Over the next three months, the Wave Glider will acoustically offload data from six seafloor-mounted Sonardyne International Ltd Fetch responders located off the Aleutian Islands and combine this data with high-precision GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) location information. The undulating tow cable serves as a buffer to ensure a smooth and stable ride for the payload. Just another day at sea…. #multitasking. This #WaveGlider is diligently collecting data for the Ocean Tracking Network off Nova Scotia, Canada. Equipped with a fluorometer, CTD+DO, and an ADCP, the Wave Glider is gathering in-situ data during the ongoing Spring Bloom. The Spring Bloom in the North Atlantic Ocean is an annual occurrence when high concentrations of phytoplankton can be observed.
