It’s remarkable the level of frustration with CLM as a software category. But the issue is complex because the challenges CLM is designed to solve are real and persistent. So the question is whether CLM as an approach to solving these challenges is outdated. And if so, then how do we approach the challenges in a more effective way? Thanks to Preston Clark, Zach Abramowitz and Daniel Lewis who hosted an excellent virtual session earlier this week about CLM (Contract Life-cycle Management) software.  In summary, here's some of their advice to in-house teams: 🛑 DON’T start with: “What can a CLM do?” ✔DO start with: “What problems am I trying to solve?” 🛑 DON’T try to solve all of those problems at once ✔ DO ask any vendor for relevant case studies, with real KPIs achieved that align with what you want to achieve 🛑 DON’T acquire a CLM with full end-to-end functionality and implement it all at the same time ✔ DO look at point solutions, “best of breed” 🛑 DON’T ignore your organisation’s current enterprise software / tools ✔ DO aim for employee happiness as a project goal!
