Emojis add fun and personality to our online conversations, but it's important to use them wisely. Did you know screen readers often describe emojis out loud? 🗣️ This means using too many emojis can create a confusing experience for people with visual impairments. So, let's use emojis thoughtfully and sparingly to ensure everyone can enjoy our digital communication! 👍 Want to learn more about creating delightful, inclusive digital experiences? Sign up for the Accessibility Internet Rally: https://lnkd.in/gibUYrKz. Registration closes September 6th!

Less than 4% of the world's top websites meet minimum accessibility standards. For nonprofits, this presents a unique challenge and opportunity. An accessible website is an equitable website, and equity is at the heart of every successful nonprofit mission. Space for everyone means access for all. Let's bridge the digital divide together! https://lnkd.in/gibUYrKz

I'm still brimming with joy from the #AccessU Conference held in Austin, Texas, in May. Many thanks to #Fable and #Knowbility for their continued commitment to expanding the accessible learning space; I am beyond grateful for their support! I learned so much and met so many incredible people. I look forward to future learnings and conversations with you all: Sharron Rush, Mark Boyden, Kate Kalcevich, Jillian Fortin Burtnett, Caroline Kovesi, Carolyn Chesler, CPACC, Zoltan Hawryluk, Homer Gaines, CPACC, Katie Wilson, Thomas Watkins, Peter Slatin, Erica Braverman, Jeanne Spellman, David Cox, Frank Elavsky, Elisa Miller, Meryl Evans, CPACC (deaf), Adrian Roselli, Patrick Fox, Maia Miller. I want to give a special shout-out to Elisa Miller's session on usability testing. Elisa was an exceptionally grounded teacher and presenter. I want to thank my dear friend Stephanie Bogdanich, Instructional Designer at #ACC, for hosting me and allowing me to celebrate her birthday with fantastic food, kitten yoga, a craft show, Japanese film, and laughter.

The ramp up to AccessU always brings active feedback and suggestions from our vibrant community -- thank you! Layoffs in tech and the uncertain economy sent us to the drawing board to think of more ways to engage and serve as we've done for 25 years. To help more people access the practical skills-building and hands-on training to help you with your current role or find your next one, we're offering: 💜 Discounted tickets for job-seekers (40% off) If you were laid off in the great accessibility downsizing over the last year or are currently unemployed, write us at [email protected], send a verification of some kind, and we’ll send you a coupon to attend at the pre-sale price (40% off current standard pricing). 💜 One-day ticket for GAAD ($125) Thursday, May 16th is Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD). In celebration, we’re inviting the local (or remote) community to attend a full day of sessions, round table talks, the closing keynote panel, and a speed-networking happy hour for just $125. View the GAAD Celebration schedule: https://ow.ly/7qvS50RmI2Y 💜 Scholarship program (free admission) There are still 2 open seats for the Fable-sponsored Jim Thatcher Scholarship.
