We’ve won cases before judges of all stripes, including those appointed by President-elect Trump, and will continue to do so in 2025 and beyond. JAC will always work to protect immigrant-inclusive policies from extremist attacks, ensuring that those closest to the harm will have their voices heard by the courts determining their fates. So, our team has a simple message for President-elect Trump or his deputies if they decide to make good on their despicable plans: We'll see you in court. 🔗 Read the full statement: https://lnkd.in/ewVKu77J

Weaving immigrant justice through litigation & storytelling
About us
Justice Action Center (JAC) uses co-equal litigation and storytelling strategies to address unmet needs and build new frameworks to tangibly improve immigrants’ lives. 👐 We are weaving a future where the freedom to move is respected, immigrant narratives are rooted in dignity and belonging, and people seeking safety can access protection through systems that value humanity over exclusion. To ensure an immigrant-inclusive world, this future must also embody intersectional justice, with racial, economic, gender, disability, and climate justice for all.

🚨 UPDATE: Mixed status families and CHIRLA—represented by JAC and Make the Road New York—just filed an emergency motion to end the block on #KeepingFamiliesTogether parole: https://lnkd.in/eXpBaRiN “We refuse to allow the court to operate without accountability, as political interests weaponize our justice system at the expense of families. This legally baseless stay order should be reversed immediately to restore justice for thousands of families who have long awaited, and deserve, an opportunity to remain together in the place they call home.” - Karen Tumlin, Founder + Director of Justice Action Center The state of Texas and its co-conspirators have no legal basis for continuing to block this process and must be held accountable! 👐 For updates on this case and to get involved, visit https://bit.ly/KFTCase

Attacks on the #KeepingFamiliesTogether process are the newest front in longstanding attacks on immigrant and mixed-status families by anti-immigrant forces. Still, we hold firm to what we know: Love is what makes a family, and families deserve to stay together. 💚 The fight to defend this critical process is not over. DACA and the Keeping Families Together process are some of the most important lifelines for millions of immigrants who have lived, worked, and contributed to the U.S. for years. And for both DACA recipients and mixed status families, #HomeIsHere.

New JAC staff alert! ✨ A huge welcome to Maria Liliana Ramirez, PhD., the newest addition to our communications team. Liliana joins Justice Action Center as a Narrative Research Specialist dedicated to mobilizing storytelling for immigrant justice. She grew up undocumented in El Monte, CA, as the oldest daughter in a Mexican mixed status household. Her personal experience as an undocumented queer woman and as a DACA recipient since 2012 has motivated her to engage in research regarding undocumented immigration. She has a PhD in Anthropology from the University of California, Irvine, where she conducted ethnographic and auto-ethnographic research on how undocumented visual artists use their artwork towards political mobilization along with coping with and healing from migration trauma. She is also an independent curator dedicated to showcasing the nuances of being undocumented. At JAC, Liliana is inspired by the potential to use research to create change in the lives of directly impacted people. Outside of work, Liliana enjoys going to yoga, exploring art practices, drinking coffee, and spending time with family. Curious about the rest of the team? 👐 Meet them all at https://lnkd.in/ejFjN7Ky

Earlier this week, one of our potential intervenor defendants, Foday Turay, was on MSNBC with David Noriega, sharing the importance of #KeepingFamiliesTogether Parole and what it'd mean for him and his family. Foday is a prosecutor in Pennsylvania who is originally from Sierra Leone and fled because of war. He’s lived in the U.S. since he was seven years old and is fighting to keep his family together through the new #KFT parole process and as part of our intervention to defend it. Hear what he had to say! 👇

🚨 BREAKING: 11 individuals and CHIRLA, represented by JAC and Make the Road New York, just filed a motion to intervene in Texas v. DHS to defend the #KeepingFamiliesTogether parole process from states who don’t care whether families and communities are ripped apart. Our intervenors represent thousands of mixed status families who have been waiting in limbo for years. Across the U.S., they have built businesses, families, and deep community roots. Now, through #KFT, they finally have a chance at security and freedom from the constant fear of forced separation. We’re proud to represent these courageous intervenors in court and uplift their stories as part of our joint effort to keep families together. Love is what makes a family, and families deserve to stay together 💚 Follow Justice Action Center for the latest updates on this case! 🔗 Learn more about today's intervention here: https://lnkd.in/ebVypTUa #KFT #KeepingFamiliesTogether #FamilyUnity #BreakingNews
