Seth and Mallory offered insight into the potential effects of a federal rule issued by the Department of Interior and the Bureau of Energy Management. The rule, which is being legally challenged, requires oil and gas companies without investment-grade credit rating operating on the Outer Continental Shelf to acquire additional financing to cover potential decommissioning costs for old wells.
