Great to speak at this year’s Interaction Design Day - IxDA. ⭐️ It was an inspiring evening, stretching the practice and the purpose of design to new dimensions. I delved into product innovation, exploring how frog we experiment and deliver with data and AI, as new matters to unlock value. We are sometimes successful, we have fun and failures, as the methods - and our next capabilities - are all to be scripted. With Alessandro Masserdotti, Bel Barreiros, Andrea Pedrina we discussed those opportunities, the challenges and the designers’ responsibilities. A conversation that is just starting. A huge thank you to Domus Academy and Silvio Cioni for hosting the event - I feels always at home.

What a blast! 🔥 It's being great coming together again as the local Milan&Turin IxDA chapter to add #dimensions during World Interaction Design Days. We showed that together, we are strong, ambitious, humble, and ready to dive into profound (and some time philosophical) discussions on how our practice is evolving, putting our whole selves into it both as professionals and human beings. 🌟 I'm so greatful to our speakers who made this event memorable, thank you Bel Barreiros, Chiara Diana, Alessandro Masserdotti, Davide Pedone. 🙏 Thanks to Domus Academy for hosting us; we're all looking forward to next year! 🏛️ Last but not least, I want to deeply thank our collaborators who made this event possible: Silvio Cioni, Giovanni Caruso, Maddalena Mazzocchi, Diego Reitano. 🤝 A huge thank you to all the 80+ amazing attendees who braved the rain and traveled from outside the city to join us. Your enthusiasm and dedication made the day truly special! ☔🌟

This school year I have become the new International Interaction Design Association (IxDA) UW Chapter president 🕺 Last year when I was the vice president and co-founder we hosted over 7 events and brought in over 40 professionals from the industry which included designers from Microsoft, Google, Adobe, eBay, Breville | Sage, Duolingo, Meta, Riot Games, Snap Inc., The New York Times, and other amazing companies and design agencies. 💫 Our most recent event—an accessibility design sprint with Microsoft At IxDA we believe in fostering educational growth which includes illuminating current design disparities and tackling these issues with research and professional expertise. Last spring we hosted a 3 hour design accessibility sprint in collaboration with Microsoft to design kitchen tools for those that have low vision impairment. We also had guests from Google accessibility and extended expertise from Jerred M., the CEO and lead designer of OneCourt, a Forbes recognized company that specializes in making gameplay accessible for those with vision impairment. I decided on our topic, conducted our research that would be synthesized by students during the sprint, and designed the process / strategy students would follow to create their tools. We had a total of 40 student attendees and 8 professional guests that provided mentorship. 🌱 But what exactly is IxDA about? Just over a year ago IxDA started as a small and casual weekly meetup where anyone could show up, design, and talk about their current experiences as a student within the UW Design division. During these initial conversations, we collectively crafted values we wanted to follow as designers and what values we wanted IxDA to represent. These values became:  🌟 building genuine connections 🌟 fostering professional & educational growth 🌟 promoting personal & social wellness At IxDA we have helped students connect with professionals one on one, meet students outside of their year, and feel personally supported within the UW Design program. 🕺 My role and past takeaways As president, I'll be leading our event planning, marketing, and professional recruitment. I absolutely love IxDA and have been with this organization from the start which was only over a year ago. Our debut event last fall was hosted by only Emily Toyama White and I and now IxDA has a whole board of terrific designers and so many plans down the line. This effort has taught me about the power of community, creative problem solving, and always finding room to tell a joke in the midst of the chaos of planning.

Unfortunately, we have to hit the pause button and cancel our upcoming meetup. 😞 But don’t worry—we'll be exploring how we can end 2024 with a bang. We’re also cooking up plans for an even bigger and better 2025, so stay tuned for updates!🚀 🌊 And don't forget the upcoming Tidal Design Conference on November 9, 2024, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. We’re so grateful for your enthusiasm and support. Thank you!

As Designers we often create concepts based on observed user needs. It's always nice when these concepts get industry recognition. This year the IxDA Interaction Awards named our IaaS team's Infrastructure Visualizer concept as a finalist. Congrats to the IaaS Design team, with reps from Compute, Networking, and Storage joining forces to create this concept which helps our users to view & manage their infrastructure topology.

I’m Argentinian, living and working in Argentina. How on Earth did I end up at an IxDA event in Stockholm? I joined IxDF - Interaction Design Foundation last week, just before my vacation and, while most group suggestions were from Buenos Aires, I spotted an event in Stockholm, my destination. Still, I hesitated, would an unplanned attendee be welcome? Thankfully, I made the right choice. It was a great event with fascinating topics and amazing people. ⭐ A big thank you to the IxDA Stockholm organizers. Tagging Tamara L. in representation of all of them. 🚀 Nishant Rai and Mikael Eriksson Björling presented on Automation, AI, and the Future of Interaction Modalities. I could hear them for hours. (photo 1 & 2) Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it in time (got lost following Google Maps) for the first talk: 💪🏻 Rafael C. presented on Weights, Latents, and Instructions: New Materials of Design. I noticed it was very interesting as people were highly engaged throughout. 🍕As a bonus, I got free pizza for dinner! (photo 3 😜) 📌 If you’re in the area or know someone who is, I truly recommend joining this wonderful community.
