📚 In case you missed it, the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) and International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) have released new editions of their handbooks. The 2024 edition of the Handbook of the International Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (including International Independence Standards) features revisions to the definitions of public interest entities, audit client, and group audit client. It also includes new technology-related provisions as well as the revisions addressing tax planning, which become effective after June 2025. The 2023-2024 edition of the Handbook of International Quality Management, Auditing, Review, Other Assurance, and Related Services Pronouncements includes International Standard on Auditing (ISA) 600 (Revised) on group audits as well as the International Standard on Auditing for Audits of Financial Statements of Less Complex Entities (ISA for LCE), which has not yet become effective for jurisdictions that adopt the standard. Our intern, Irene Park, had a productive summer with us. During her time with us, she working with International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) in several areas, including sustainability, communications, and social media - gaining insights into the world of #ethics and standard setting. As she heads back to New York University to finish her degree, we hope she takes with her new knowledge and experiences. Below is a glimpse into a day in her life this summer. Yesterday, the teams from IFEA’s two standard-setting boards, the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) and International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA), took a break from standard setting to go bowling with IFAC staff. No photos because everyone was too busy having fun. So instead, this absolutely accurate video of how we all bowled. 😊
