It’s World Sight Day! Today, we celebrate our 287 dedicated teachers who empower blind and low vision students to reach their full potential. Vision care is crucial for kids everywhere, and our educators are here to make a difference! Check out Courtney as she reads with a blind and low vision student at one of our member district schools. Together, they’re building a brighter future—one page at a time! Let’s raise awareness and champion the importance of vision care for all children. #287EdChat #WorldSightDay

  • Our students at Ann Bremer Education Center have been working hard this past month on their manipulative skills during Developmental Adapted Physical Education (DAPE). In DAPE, we use creative modifications and adaptions to the activities so that each student can succeed. Students practiced their throwing, catching, tossing, and rolling skills while playing games at the DAPE Carnival. #287EdChat #DAPE #Carnival

  • Happy World Teachers’ Day! On October 5, let’s celebrate the amazing teachers who inspire us every day! Just like Matilda had Ms. Honey and Harry had Dumbledore, your favorite teacher saw your potential and helped you grow. Teachers shape future generations, and today is the perfect time to say “thank you” for their dedication. No matter where you are, remember that teachers truly matter! Here are what our teachers say about why they are proud to be a teacher at 287! #287EdChat #WorldTeachersDay

  • This October, let’s shine a spotlight on our amazing deaf and hard of hearing staff who play a vital role in supporting our students. Your dedication and hard work make a world of difference in their educational journeys! Jenny, an educational audiologist at 287 talks about the importance of their work with students: "As educational audiologists, we see our mission as providing auditory access for our students. Our role is to do whatever is needed to ensure our students gain access to their education, from providing speaker systems in classrooms to helping parents of newly identified babies understand how to use and care for their child's hearing aids. By facilitating appropriate access that meets the unique needs of each student, we reduce the amount of effort required for listening and learning so that each child has the energy to also be engaged and develop meaningful relationships in the classroom.” Let’s come together to support hearing health and show appreciation for our fantastic staff who make a positive impact every day. Your work is invaluable and deeply appreciated! #287EdChat #AudiologistAwarenessMonth

  • Inspired by successful initiatives at Minneapolis and Saint Paul Public Schools, our Equity and Inclusion Department launched an exciting "Grow Your Own" student internship program over Extended School Year. This program offered students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in education. Interns, who were paid like Educational Support Professionals (ESPs), began their journey with a two-day orientation then worked closely with teacher mentors to support classrooms. This summer, we had 6 incredible interns at North Education Center and South Education Center. Notably, 100% of these students identified as students of color. We're so proud of our interns and their dedication in supporting our schools and making a difference. #287EdChat #GrowYourOwn #Career #Internship

  • Today we celebrate National IT Professionals Day, a day dedicated to recognizing the brilliant minds behind our seamless tech experiences. Our IT team works tirelessly to ensure that our school building technology and computer systems run smoothly and efficiently. They’re the unsung heroes who fix our devices and troubleshoot software issues when they falter, making sure our staff and student can continue to work and learn. Thank you for your efforts and the positive impact you make every day. #287EdChat
