IAFC President Josh Waldo and the IAFC Board of Directors congratulate IAFC Past President, Fire Chief Donna Black, on her appointment as Deputy United States Fire Administrator. Chief Black has been a member of the IAFC since 2005. In addition to serving as IAFC President in 2022-2023, Chief Black served on the IAFC Volunteer Combination Officers Section (VCOS) Board for 3 years, and as the VCOS International Director on the IAFC Board of Directors for 3 years. During Chief Black’s 19-year tenure as an IAFC member, she has served the IAFC in several other capacities including Co-Char of the IAFC Women Fire Chiefs Council, Fire-Rescue International Program Planning Committee, and as the IAFC representative to the #FireServiceOneVoice initiative. New Deputy U.S. Fire Administrator announced! During the U.S. Fire Administrator’s keynote at the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC)’s Volunteer and Combination Officer Symposium in Clearwater Beach, FL, Dr. Lori Moore-Merrell announced Chief Donna Black will join the USFA as the Deputy U.S. Fire Administrator on December 15, 2024. Chief Black has served in the fire service for over 27 years, earning her way through the ranks (as both a paid and volunteer firefighter), culminating in 2006 when she was selected as the Fire Chief for the Town of Duck, North Carolina. She is a past President of the International Association of Fire Chiefs and champion of #FireServiceOneVoice collaboration for the National Fire Strategy.  Please join us as we proudly welcome Chief Black to the U.S. Fire Administration!
