We’re now over halfway into the year of ‘doing what we said we would do’ for our 2024 HM Mini Goal Program! In June, our goal was to take a walk without our phones, and we were yet again impressed by the dedication. For July, we’re excited to share our next Mini Goal—Take a Road Trip. The road trip is a timeless tradition—with the added modern benefit of GPS and Bluetooth connections, of course. Go for a long excursion or keep it short and spontaneous, just be sure to hit the road. This month, we challenge you to commit to taking a ride, allowing yourself to enjoy not only the destination, but the journey, too. Hit the open roads! Check out our blog to see a few of our favorite photo submissions from June! #HMMiniGoals #EnjoyTheJourney #RoadTrip

In his latest article, Hughes Marino executive vice president, Scot Ginsburg, shares three key risk factors tenants need to understand and protect against when leasing space. As a tenant, it’s important to put contracts in place that help drastically reduce your risk and protect yourself against eviction or lost funds, no matter how your landlord’s financial situation changes. There’s no one specific roadmap to success, but John Wooden’s “Pyramid of Success” has been a model we’ve shaped our leadership and core values around since before we started our company. Wooden’s pyramid was developed after decades of determining the traits and characteristics of highly successful people. This outline has been shared with teams and businesses alike, instilling a drive for excellence. This pyramid holds great significance to the Hughes Marino team, and we have it hanging in many of our offices across the country. We’re officially halfway into the year of ‘doing what we said we would do’ for our 2024 HM Mini Goal Program! In May, our goal was to bring home flowers, and we were yet again amazed by all the participation. For June, we’re excited to share our next Mini Goal—Take a Walk, Without Your Phone. This month, we challenge you to commit to taking one walk without your phone, allowing yourself to be fully present in the moment, connecting with your surroundings. Give it a try! Check out our blog to see how you can participate in our HM Mini Goals throughout the remainder of the year, in addition to a few of our favorite floral photo submissions from May! #HMMiniGoals #MiniGoalProgram #Culture

We wanted to share another one of our favorite long-time Hughes Marino coaches, Mike Robbins, including his inspiring life stories and unique coaching approaches, in hopes that you can take some of his wisdom and apply it to your own team. Before Mike Robbins became a world-renowned speaker, author and consultant for businesses including Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn, Deloitte, Coca-Cola and professional sports teams, he was a rising star on the baseball field, pitching in the College World Series for Stanford University. From the pitcher’s mound to sales and development roles at various internet startups following his baseball career, Mike saw firsthand what made an organization great, and the importance of a collaborative, focused team made up of unique individuals to drive an organization's success. The application of lease comps, or market comparables, in commercial real estate unashamedly favor landlords, and puts tenants and business owners at a massive disadvantage. The tradition of applying comps to commercial real estate leasing is yet another method and custom that was created by building owners, for building owners. David Marino, Hughes Marino senior executive vice president, provides a compelling analysis featured on Forbes, where he sheds light on the faults and flaws of using lease comps in the commercial real estate industry, and how they can be used by landlords to pigeonhole tenants into lease terms that don’t best represent their space. Get insight into lease comps through the lens of an expert tenant advisor in David’s latest Forbes publication below. #LeaseComps #TenantRepresentation #TenantAdvisors

Our Denver team is proud to have recently hosted members of The Honor Foundation for a morning of networking and support. We shared insight into the work we do for both our Denver community and nationally, in addition to the various industries and people we reach through our real estate work. It was a great honor for our team to connect with members of the foundation, and share our industry as a career opportunity following military service. We’re immensely grateful for the service of veterans nationally, and those belonging to The Honor Foundation. Onward! #Denver #Veterans #TheHonorFoundation

"You know what to do. Just do the right thing.” Former president of national restaurant group Chart House, Shawn Holder (also Shay Hughes’ dad) lives by this mantra, which he also credits with his personal and professional success, as well as the success of the growth of the Chart House. From humble beginnings as a dishwasher at Chart House, Shawn rose to president of the company through his immense personal drive, thoughtful leadership style and genuine desire to see those around him succeed. Our first core value at Hughes Marino is to “always do the right thing,” and Shay is proud to say that this value stemmed from her dad’s example he set for himself and everyone around him. Read more about Shawn and other inspiring coaching figures we learn from in our latest Work+Space Magazine: The Coaches Issue! #Leadership #Coaching #Culture
