Students teamed up across institutions from four continents to develop interesting applications of AI, data science and optimisation. [𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀！🎉 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗦𝗠𝗣𝗧 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱]    Two outstanding Computer Science undergraduates, have been honoured at the prestigious ASMPT Technology Award 2025, held on 27 June. ✨ 🏆 Kaitai Zhang secured the Silver Award for his project, "Dominating MOBA Games with VLL: An Efficient Gaming AI System." His innovative Visual-LLM-Logic #VLL framework comprises three modular layers: a perception layer using YOLO for real-time object detection, a strategic reasoning layer powered by a large language model #LLM, and a logic-based decision layer for tactical actions. By integrating visual perception with language-driven reasoning, VLL overcomes traditional limitations of game AI, resulting in a more adaptive and context-aware agent.  🏆 Fengfei Yu earned the Outstanding Award for his project, "Defending Against Model Inversion via Auxiliary-Supervised OOD Regularization." His work analyses how classifiers can leak training data through model inversion. It highlights a critical flaw in existing defences, which assign excessive confidence to out-of-distribution #OOD inputs, enabling inversion attacks. The project introduces Dual Confidence Calibration #DCC, a novel defence mechanism that enhances model robustness against these attempts, significantly reducing attack success rates.
