We are pleased to announce that Northlake Commons won the NAIOP Washington State Office Development of the Year! We are beyond proud of Northlake Commons, and we could not have done it without our fantastic partners Spear Street Capital and Dunn Lumber and the amazing team of Weber Thompson, Swinerton, DCI Engineers, KPFF Consulting Engineers, and many more! Check out this article in the DJC by Principal Mark Grey and Weber Thompson’s Rachael Meyer. One of our core principles at HCG is thinking beyond and outside the box of standard development. In our design phase, we spend a significant amount of time thinking about how to develop a space that engages and inspires its tenants, while also thinking about sustainability and giving back to our local community. We have found innovative ways to merge development and sustainability. From cleaning 2.6 million gallons annually of roadway runoff to conserving our local water supply by capturing about 300,000 gallons of rainfall annually and reusing the rainwater as potable water within our buildings – that is just a sampling of the “out of the box ideas” that we have incorporated into our projects. To learn more about our aggressive water goals read the following article in the Daily Journal of Commerce:

Thank you to the Seattle Channel for highlighting the workings of our bioswales! In our commitment to support the community and ecology, we have included bioswales as part of 3 of our projects - Data 1, Watershed and the newly completed Northlake Commons. You may have heard the word bioswale and wondered "what exactly is a bioswale?" Besides lovely landscaping, bioswales act as a natural defense against urban runoff that pollutes the environment. The Northlake bioswale will clean 2.6+ million gallons of dirty stormwater that would have otherwise flowed directly into Lake Union, damaging ecosystems and hurting salmon. Instead, these bioswales filter the stormwater to save Salmon and the Lake. Also thank you to members of our development team - KPFF Consulting Engineers and Weber Thompson for their role in the design and development of the bioswales!
Seattle Channel on Instagram: "You’ve probably seen a bioswale or two out and about in Seattle, but what are they exactly? Besides lovely landscaping, bioswales act as a natural defense against urban runoff that pollutes the environment we share with our region’s plants and animals. Folks from @hesscallahangreygroup and @seattle_public_utilities explained how this this win-win works. #earthday
