Today, on Veterans Day, we're humbled to lift up one of our own colleagues. Mike Pauciullo has served in various medical support roles for the Army Reserve since 2008. He wanted to help others but wasn’t sure how — until his captain recognized his potential for critical care nursing. After graduating nursing school in 2020, Mike joined the CJW Medical Center team on the neuroscience intensive care unit (NSICU). He's now a clinical nurse coordinator and oversees the unit's daily operations. Mike says his favorite part of work is making someone smile on their worst day. "It can be nurses, it can be patients. My whole reason for healthcare is just to help,” says Mike. The NSICU leaders are big advocates for Mike’s military service. They attended his promotion ceremony, push him to continue in his career and accommodate his commitment to serving his country. He even weaves his service into his nursing career when he creates a “table for the fallen” each Memorial Day, demonstrating his appreciation for those who served in the military before him. Thank you, Mike, for selflessly showing up for your patients, community and country. #VeteransDay #HCAVeterans

On this Veterans Day, we join our HCA Healthcare family in honoring the contributions and commitment of those who selflessly served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Each veteran makes a positive impact in our communities through their service in and outside of the hospital. HCA Healthcare is proud to have thousands of military colleagues, having hired more than 60,000 veterans, active duty personnel and military spouses since 2012. Today, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to those who have honorably served and their family members. Our military colleagues truly exemplify our mission: Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life. #HCAVeterans #VeteransDay

We're proud to be part of HCA Healthcare, the nation's leading network for delivering babies, with more than 212,000 babies born at our hospitals last year. As March of Dimes reports, 1 in 10 babies in the U.S. are born prematurely, arriving before 37 weeks of pregnancy. This #PrematurityAwarenessMonth, please join us in celebrating our tiniest patients and their dedicated caregivers. Here are a couple of little ones from CJW Medical Center who celebrated their first Halloween with us last week. #HealthierTomorrows #Preemie

Our HCA Virginia colleagues brought light to the darkness of cancer alongside community members at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light the Night event at Innsbrook North Shore Commons Lawn last Saturday. Friends, families, schools and more gathered together to celebrate, honor and remember those touched by blood cancer. HCA Virginia and Sarah Cannon Cancer Network raised $11,184 to help provide lifesaving research, advocacy and support for blood cancer patients and their families. We thank our Richmond hospital colleagues from CJW Medical Center and Henrico, Parham & Retreat Doctors' Hospitals for showing up and raising funds for this worthy cause. Happy Halloween from some of our tiniest, most festive patients! At Henrico, Parham & Retreat Doctors' Hospitals, our spirited colleagues created handmade costumes for 18 neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) babies. We hope the costumes on these cuties are a sweet treat for you! 🍭 Thank you to our colleagues for making today special for these new parents and their babies spending their first Halloween in the hospital instead of at home. You sure know how to show up for your patients. #CareLikeFamily #HalloweenBabyNICU
