The City of Hawthorne Homeless Services, in #collaboration with the Hawthorne Police department canvassed the city providing services to the unhoused living in the street. Services provided in attempt to encourage the unhoused get back on their feet, receive healthcare and mental health services and shelter placement. The City of Hawthorne’s Veterans Affairs Commission held an Inaugural Military Banner Recognition Ceremony on Tuesday, June 25th outside City Hall. The banner program was created to recognize Hawthorne’s military men & women from the past and present. Sixteen banners were sponsored in this first year and are hanging around the Hawthorne community. Live music, performers, dignitaries and the #community came together this past weekend to celebrate Juneteenth! This was the City of Hawthorne’s biggest Juneteenth Celebration to date which was held at Memorial Park. Juneteenth is an important day to remember and to celebrate the last 250,000 slaves in the state of Texas to finally be declared free back in 1865!
