He replaces Mike Daglio, who announced his decision to leave Hartford HealthCare at the end of April. Bimal joined Hartford HealthCare in February 2009 as Senior Vice President for Support Services at Hartford Hospital. He led numerous facilities and services integration initiatives across the system. He served as Hartford’s regional Vice President for Operations and, from 2014 to 2015 as Hartford HealthCare’s Senior Vice President for Operational Integration and as President of the East Region from 2015 to 2017, where he led efforts to expand access for ambulatory services throughout the East Region. He has served as President of the Hartford Region since 2017, and assumed additional responsibilities for the Northwest Region in 2022. Cheryl Ficara, RN, Senior Vice President for Operations in the Hartford Region, will be President of the Hartford Region, and a Senior Vice President at HHC - the first female president of the Hartford Region. Cheryl has a long and dedicated career at Hartford Hospital, which she joined as critical care nurse in 1990. After serving as Hartford Hospital’s Director of Perioperative Services, Cheryl was named Regional Vice President for Patient Care Services in January 2011. Sarah Cruz, a Bone & Joint Institute colleague, and a member of the board of directors of the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association, recently traveled to Washington D.C. and met with congressional offices and representatives to advocate for the profession and educate about the importance of sterile processing technicians. These technicians play an important role in infection prevention and safety. Thank you, Sarah!

The Tallwood Urology & Kidney Institute is proud to have completed the first Focal One High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) cases in Connecticut for the treatment of prostate cancer. HIFU technology ablates prostate tissue by focusing high-intensity ultrasound waves on the affected area, destroying the cells in the gland without damaging healthy surrounding tissue. Access to Focal One HIFU at Hartford HealthCare means patients with prostate cancer have access to innovative treatment options close to home.

We are so grateful to our colleagues in the emergency department. For the fourth year, they collected and donated boxes of non-perishable food items to the Friends of Assisi Food Pantry in Danielson - making Thanksgiving extra special this holiday for families in need. Thank you for all that you do!
