  • Since #HurricaneBeryl impacted Harris County and the surrounding area on the morning of Monday, July 8th, HCEC and ESD #1 have witnessed record call volume with a significant impact on all aspects of our operations. Through the events of this past week, our Communications Center, Field Operations, Clinical Services Division, Maintenance and Infrastructure Support team, Logistics support, and Administration Support personnel remained on task and made certain that your 9-1-1 calls were answered. Through the state's activation of the Texas Emergency Medical Task Force 1, our service area received tremendous support from outside EMS agencies to alleviate the pressure the local EMS agencies were facing. We thank all of our neighboring First Responder Agencies and partners for their service this past week with a special “Thank you” to Scurry County EMS, Mitchell County Hospital District, Denton County Emergency Services District-1, Seminole Emergency Medical Service, Medical Jets International, LLC, Parker County Hospital District EMS, Richardson Fire Department, Dallas Fire-Rescue, Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services, City of Littlefield EMS, Covenant Health Ambulance Service, and Childress Regional Medical Center EMS. Our introduction to the men and women of these agencies was brought about because of a natural disaster; however, we had the extreme pleasure of working alongside a group of dedicated and professional medics. We truly cannot express enough to you the thanks we have for the help you all provided to us and the community this past week. While we are still amid the impact of the storm, with several of our staff and neighbors without electricity or running water—HCEC remains operational in support of the EMS needs of our service area. At the time of this post, our 9-1-1 Communications Center is still operating on a backup generator, awaiting our utilities to be fully restored; however, the commitment we have to the community of Harris County ESD1 is unwavering. #hcec911

Launched in 2014, the Mission: Lifeline EMS recognition program continues to honor the achievements of prehospital providers and their collaboration with each other and hospitals to improve patient care. HCEC is proud to have achieved Gold status with the Target: Heart Attack Honor Roll designation for 2024, highlighting our exceptional commitment to these standards. Congratulations to the HCEC team for their outstanding life-saving work for our community! #hcec911 #missionlifeline

  • EMS Week 2024: "Honoring our Past, Forging our Future" We reflect on our rich history this EMS Week and look forward to an even brighter future. Since its founding in 1927, Harris County Emergency Corps (HCEC) has been committed to providing the highest quality pre-hospital care. As the first First Responder Organization in Texas, chartered on February 3, 1933, we have been at the forefront of emergency medical services, responding to significant events like the New London School Explosion in 1937 and the Texas City disaster in 1947. Throughout the decades, HCEC has grown and adapted, expanding our fleet in the 1960s and relocating our headquarters to North Harris County in 1971. In 1991, citizens in the area voted to form Harris County Emergency Services District #1. In 2010, the ESD Board of Commissioners reestablished HCEC as a private, not-for-profit corporation, and HCEC assumed operations on June 1, 2011. Today, HCEC proudly operates nine full-time mobile intensive care units, an ACE Accredited Communications Center, a community health paramedic program, and outreach education programs. We honor our past by continuing the mission envisioned by our founding members and forge our future by setting new standards in EMS. Join us in celebrating EMS Week as we honor our legacy and embrace the future of emergency medical services! #EMSWeek2024 #HCEC911

  • During yesterday's 2024 Harris County Sheriff's Office Commendation Ceremony, HCEC staff, alongside Eastex Fire Department - Harris County ESD No. 10, were recognized for their quick response and life-saving actions when called to respond to a fallen officer. In August 2023, Deputy Anderson was shot during a traffic stop. The actions by HCEC Communication Center staff Katherine Gaitan and Jessica Parks were exceptional in expediting the resources necessary for this crucial call. In-charge Paramedics Hiram Castro, Eric Montelongo, and Field Supervisor Jennifer Pagel provided the medical attention and advanced life-support-saving measures that Deputy Anderson needed. Seeing all these fantastic individuals reunite with Deputy Anderson on stage at tonight's ceremony was great. Thank you, HCSO, for recognizing these men and women for their hard work and dedication to the people of our community. We are so proud of you all!

Today, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez and the Harris County Sheriff's Office honored 51 teammates at a commendation ceremony. The recipients distinguished themselves through their sacrificial service and heroic acts on duty. Their efforts earned them special commendations for bravery, lifesaving efforts, leadership, and excellent and persistent police work. We also thanked our donors for their generous contributions! • Photo Album 📸: bit.ly/49gKlmJ
