Our Practitioners Institute and William Julius Wilson Institute teams welcomed leaders from the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore City Public Schools to the Zone! During their visit, the teams gained insights into HCZ’s cradle-to-career model and how they can strengthen their support for Harlem Park Elementary Middle School students in West Baltimore as part of their Adopt a School campaign. We’re excited about the Orioles’ commitment to impacting their community through education, family support, and food security. #PowerofPlace

Here in Harlem and communities like ours across the country, our young people are on the path to bright futures. Many are graduating from high school, earning college degrees, and building careers. But as they move through these pivotal stages of their journeys, the American Dream is far from guaranteed. Our young people face systemic barriers — most notably, the wealth gap. To confront this issue, we have launched Wealth Builds. Through this national initiative, we aim to end intergenerational poverty and close the wealth gap by empowering young people and families with the education and resources to build successful financial futures. We are committed to helping our scholars achieve their full potential. Discover more about Wealth Builds: https://lnkd.in/ewAz4gBa

“I have the best job in the world. That's because I get to witness our young people realize their potential.” Meet Kwame Owusu-Kesse, the proud CEO of Harlem Children’s Zone! Growing up in Worcester, MA, he faced challenges similar to our scholars — challenges that can define a young person’s path in life. Fortunately, he had adults in his childhood who invested in him and his future. As CEO, Mr. Owusu-Kesse is investing in our young people the same way the adults in his life invested in him — helping tens of thousands of scholars and families in Harlem and beyond to build bright futures.
