Earlier this year, Hanson Bridgett's land use team was part of an exciting project in Daly City, CA in which the Jefferson Union High School District (JUHSD) secured approvals to redevelop surplus property with 961 units market-rate housing, representing an innovative solution to help JUHSD pay for teachers' salaries and educational programs. The first phase was a ground-breaking development that provided JUHSD teachers with affordable housing, which was highlighted in a Good Morning America segment (https://lnkd.in/gfsTbmAz). The next phases of development are underway, with the school district issuing an RFQ for interested developers. The district has invited parties to submit their qualifications for long-term ground leases on one, two, three, or more sites, where such sites were approved for development as-of-right, for a capacity varying from a minimum of 127 units to a max of 400 units.
