U.S. hospitals and health systems have been painted as the villain of high healthcare costs, but much of that perception is due to a deeply flawed but widely cited report. Did you know insurance companies could be wrong 8️⃣ 2️⃣ % of the time? That’s the rate at which prior authorization denials are overturned when appealed, according to recent research. Unfortunately, only 11% of the 2 million prior authorizations payors deny are appealed, meaning the vast majority of patients end up delaying or abandoning critical care they are entitled to.
