This month, we celebrate Filipino American History Month! On October 18, 1587, the first Filipinos, known as “Luzones Indios,” arrived in the continental U.S. aboard the Spanish galleon Nuestra Señora de Esperanza, marking the beginning of a rich and evolving history. Join us as we honor and recognize the incredible contributions of Filipinos to American culture and society throughout this month and beyond! Let’s share stories, celebrate diversity, and keep the spirit alive! #filipino #GlobalMedTeam #FilipinoAmericanHistoryMonth #UnitedStates #nurses #AmericanCulture #healthcare #NurseLife #opportunities #CareerGrowth #health

Global MedTeam is excited to share a wonderful interview with Roberto Molina Bon, MSM, BSN, RN, in which he shares why membership in national organizations like the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) is important for advocacy and representation in the national conversation. It is not only critical that all voices are represented, but also important for patients to see themselves represented in their healthcare teams. A large portion of DACA recipients in the United States represent a diverse tapestry of Hispanic origins and cultures. It is during Hispanic Heritage Month that Global MedTeam wants to celebrate the contributions and support of our healthcare system by DACA recipients. Thank you to DACA recipients for the things you do to support your communities and neighbors. We would like to lift up and feature the voice of an amazing person that we were fortunate to meet at the recent National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) conference. We spoke with Zacnité Vargas-Avalos, a DACA recipient, a Registered Nurse, and the President of the Tennesee NAHN Chapter. Zacnite shared with us how the healthcare industry and our communities can benefit from the workforce contributions of DACA recipients. Nurses in the workforce who can connect with the diverse backgrounds of the patients they care for is a critical factor in social determinants of health and community wellbeing.
