As we celebrate Pride Month, we must recognize the significance of physical and virtual safe spaces for the LGBTQ+ community. With the community’s growth, the number of voices and the power to speak up have also grown, strengthening a collective generational memory. At Enel Headquarters, Gensler sought to reinvent the brand identity and rethink the future workplace for an energy company that was previously characterized as very traditional, with no clear design guidelines and an image that didn’t reflect its identity. The result is a space designed to attract collaborators with tools and amenities that make Enel’s office a destination rather than an obligation. Through strategy, brand design, an understanding of employees' needs, and interior design programming, the workspace reinvigorates the company’s energy, generates innovation, and celebrates the power of collaboration. This is also achieved by implementing clear design strategies, such as responsive geometries, continuous and coherent spaces, biophilic and sustainable solutions, and an enhanced new culture that adds a sense of pride to Enel. 📍 Bogotá, Colombia #Energy #Strategy #Interiors #GenslerDesign

Infocomm is the largest conference and trade show for the latest advances in immersive, display, and audio-visual technologies. My colleagues from Gensler’s Digital Experience Design (DXD) practice Gabby Shawcross and Sam Gochman attended last week to explore the newest cutting-edge technology and identify creative opportunities. Here are a few things we at Gensler are inspired to add to our creative toolbox: AI & Personalization: While AI isn’t new, it was top of mind for attendees. The potential for generative AI and LLMs to create content or personalized journeys in real-time can make spaces more accessible for people and encourage repeat visits. Experiences can be personalized and distinct for each person and can be created instantaneously based on their behaviors and engagement as they progress through a space. This might mean immediate translation in a museum, or unique imagery, or personalized recommendations in retail. Multisensory / Non-visual technologies: Digital experiences extend beyond the screens! We saw several multi-sensory technologies that were extremely impactful, especially around spatial and directional audio. We have the technology to direct specific sounds to an individual, direct audio at specific angles, or send audio in different languages to different sides of a room with a seamless transition. And of course…More Options in Display Technology: We saw an incredible variety of options for display tech, each with unique applications and specifications. The sheer scale, granularity, and range of products available — high fidelity LED screens to interactive OLEDs to bendable or perforated surfaces — reinforced to our team that we have more available than ever before to create tailored experiences that elegantly elevate MEDIA AS MATERIAL in the built environment. This is just the tip of the iceberg of what we saw at Infocomm this year. With more tools to bring digital experiences to life, we’re inspired to make some magic happen.

Happy Pride! We're celebrating this month in our London office with a vibrant display of unity and history. Our feature staircase shines with the colors of the Pride flag as testament to the dedication of our DE&I, Social Committee, and Branding teams who organized and designed the transformation. Educational posters throughout the office offer a glimpse into UK PRIDE history and the meaning behind the iconic colors of the rainbow flag, while inspiring quotes from our LGBTQIA+ community members grace the office, reflecting the diversity of our Europe region. Collaborating with Moretown estate, we've adorned Thomas More Square's bollards with messages of love, peace, unity and pride, spreading inclusivity beyond our walls. With thanks to Cobal for their responsible creativity, as our rainbow staircase stands as a beacon of pride and inclusivity, crafted with passion from waste and off-cuts. #PRIDE #GenslerLondon #GenslerEurope

Kurraba Group is excited to announce the launch of Australia’s first commercial life sciences Campus, a $490-million development in the heart of Sydney’s emerging health and innovation precinct. Located at 100 Botany Road, Waterloo, just 2kms from the CBD, the strategically-located 26,642sqm development site will house hi-tech laboratories, knowledge workspaces, and the necessary infrastructure and facilities for professionals working in Australia’s rapidly-evolving life sciences sector, creating over 1,200 jobs. The Campus will drive investment, productivity and high-growth across advanced medical and health sciences industries, creating a robust platform for local research and development (R&D) to be commercialised in Australia, strengthening sovereign capabilities and ensuring that valuable IP is not ‘lost’ off-shore. Nick Smith, CEO Kurraba said, “The development, opposite the new Waterloo Metro Station, would be a real catalyst for the urban renewal and transformation of the vibrant Botany Road corridor. The team at Kurraba and our investment partners are delighted to be launching this exciting new development, which will be Australia’s first-ever commercial life sciences precinct. The project recently achieved its first milestone with renowned global architect Gensler, winning the NSW Government Architects Design Excellence Competition for the development. Gensler’s design for the state-of-the-art facility is tailored to the unique needs of the life sciences sector, with a focus on sustainability and strong ESG principles. Kurraba is expected to lodge a SSDA for the project next month with construction due to commence in early 2025. The Cincinnati Open, one of the longest running tennis tournaments in the U.S., is undergoing a campus-wide renovation ahead of the 2025 tournament. The campus will feature modern stadium facades and extensive landscaping to create a park-like feel throughout the venue, along with new fan amenities, courts and player facilities. Gensler DC’s “Roots to Success” initiative at Kelly Miller Middle School (KMMS) is the result of the 2023 Greenbuild Legacy Project Award impacting the heart of Ward 7 in Washington, DC. Building on years of philanthropic work with KMMS, Gensler pursued and ultimately won the $10,000 Greenbuild seed funding to expand the scope of their outreach at Kelly Miller Middle School. The school has a rich cultural history and legacy serving a diverse population of students, most of whom come from families with limited resources. KMMS is situated in a food desert where access to fresh healthy food is scarce. Gensler DC organized a project team and proposed sustainable improvements to the school’s on-site urban farm, courtyard, and indoor cafeteria to provide access to fresh produce and healthy food education. ©Gensler, 📸 Meredith Flanagan |📍 Washington, D.C. #Architecture #Education #GenslerDesign
