Last week, our Tampa office hosted a thought-provoking and engaging event with ACC Tampa Bay - Association of Corporate Counsel at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay. The interesting presentation led to fantastic conversation among participants, which ended with a heated but friendly discussion on the Oxford comma. Our attorneys presented on recent case law changes to the coverage landscape, which covered the shift in judicial statutory construction from a previously more broad standard to textualism. They also discussed the history of statutory construction in Florida, the current requirements for judicial analysis under textualism, and case law examples of textualism at play over the past year.
