On July 26th, 2024, Fresno County Economic Development Corporation celebrated the graduation of nine students from the 2nd cohort of the Kerman Valley Apprenticeship Connections (VAC). Funded by our #GoodJobsChallenge project, these nine individuals successfully completed a 12-week pre-apprenticeship program, preparing them for careers in the building and construction trades. 🎉 Surrounded by their families and friends, the graduates gave heartfelt speeches about their transformative experiences. They expressed deep gratitude to their instructors and celebrated the meaningful connections made with their peers. Their dedication and growth have been truly inspiring. We can't wait to see them thrive in their construction careers! On July 18, 2023, Miguel Vasquez was sponsored into the Local 294 LiUNA Labor Union and began working at Dragados Flatiron JV, CP 2-3 shortly after. Over the past year, Miguel has shown unwavering dedication and exceptional hard work at Dragados, making significant contributions to various projects. In these photos, he is at a job site in Hanford, CA, where he is working on the roads for the High-Speed Rail. This project is crucial for improving transportation infrastructure and will have a lasting impact on the region. Miguel’s efforts and commitment to excellence have been vital to the progress and success of this project. We would like to congratulate Miguel on a job well done. This partnership leverages existing local, State, and Federal incentives for the semiconductor supply chain, and paves the way for additional investment in our region – positioning Fresno County as the ideal place to grow the semiconductor industry’s California dream. Special thanks to Ajit Manocha, Mayor Jerry Dyer, Mayor Lynne Ashbeck, Roslton St. Hilaire, Dr. Ram Nunna, and the many partners who came together these last several months to discuss the opportunities available in Fresno and Clovis for semiconductor manufacturing. On June 28, 2024, we celebrated the graduation of our 13th cohort at the Selma Arts Center! 🎓✨ We proudly graduated 14 students and were honored to have dignitaries from the City of Selma CA, California High-Speed Rail Authority, and the FMKT Building Trades Council in attendance. Our student speakers shared their inspiring stories and experiences from the program, and we celebrated the accomplishments of those who passed the IBEW test.
