“Treat employees with respect.”What does that mean to a company that posted profits and still laid off 4% of their workforce? I’ve been through a layoff where the company treated impacted employees with respect. That respect is an email, PDF and a COBRA letter. Respect doesn’t help you find affordable health insurance. Respect doesn’t answer your phone calls and emails. Respect doesn’t help prepare you for a long, tenuous job search. Respect doesn’t go a long way if it’s not the support and solutions a person truly needs to manage a job transition. It’s time for companies to rethink the end of the employee lifecycle and focus on what employees truly need during a difficult job transition. #readyforwhen #layoffs #healthinsurance #jobtransition
