Generative AI can create poems, emails or artwork, but one of its most promising uses is its ability to write code. Some companies, like Microsoft-owned Github, offer “copilots” that use AI to make coding suggestions, similar to autocomplete. Other companies, like Cognition or Magic, specialize in “agents” designed to carry out an entire coding project from start to finish. On Wednesday, Codeium, a buzzy AI startup that already makes its own copilot, unveiled a new tool called the Windsurf Editor, which provides a little bit of both. The idea is to provide advanced automation strategically, while still keeping the developer in the driver seat. The goal is that by overseeing the code Windsurf writes, the developer can ensure it does exactly what they want, catching errors early on and making the code review process a lot faster.

The fate of several student loan forgiveness and repayment programs remains uncertain as President-elect Donald Trump returned to Washington on Wednesday to meet with congressional Republicans and President Joe Biden. Key Biden administration student debt relief initiatives, including the SAVE plan and mass debt cancellation, appear to be in increasing danger. At the same time, some more targeted debt relief pathways may be safe. Meanwhile, the future of several other popular loan forgiveness programs that are more firmly rooted in federal law may be tougher for the incoming Trump administration to eliminate next year. Here are six critical updates on federal student loan forgiveness and repayment initiatives as Trump plans his return to the White House.

Despite making a healthy salary as a U.S. Senator for 14 years straight, Marco Rubio’s non-real estate assets are worth between just $35,000 to $175,000, according to his latest financial disclosures. He only owns one company’s stock, between $1,000 and $15,000 of Coca-Cola. That’s even less than what he reported in 2015, when his filings showed between $135,000 and $400,000 in non-real estate wealth. His home, meanwhile, was worth less than he owed on it in 2015, according to Forbes’ estimates.

With election uncertainty now in the rear view mirror, stocks are rallying in the short term. Still, experts agree that valuations remain high compared to historical levels and markets look unlikely to replicate the double-digit returns of the last two years in 2025. Many financial advisors and their teams are subsequently relying on income-generating strategies, such as dividend paying stocks or private market alternative investments, as they look to keep clients’ assets and cash flow in good health. Don’t overestimate the damage that President-elect Donald Trump’s energy policy could do to the global green transition. Yes, he has promised to undo the Democrats’ 2022 Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), deriding it on the campaign trail as a “green new scam” for its $500 billion in tax credits and other subsidies for renewable energy projects. Cleantech companies and their backers understandably fear losing benefits like an investment tax credit worth up to 30% (or sometimes even 50%) of a project’s costs. And both environmental groups and investors in clean energy stocks have reacted with alarm to Trump’s triumph. But repeal of the IRA is hardly a done deal, given that most of those projects have been bringing jobs and investment dollars to Republican held Congressional districts. Cleantech could even benefit from some other Trump policies–like cutting both the corporate tax rate and red tape, including time-consuming environmental reviews, that hold up the siting of green projects and electricity transmission lines. Welcome to crypto’s wildest—and dumbest—moneymaking craze. It used to be that to create a new cryptocurrency, you’d have to have some mathematical ability and decent programming chops. Not anymore. Now anyone can make a meme coin with just a few clicks using free, off-the-shelf software. Every day, between 40,000 and 50,000 new meme coins are created, according to BDC, an Estonia-based blockchain consultancy. Nearly 13 million have already been created in 2024. Combined market value? Some $100 billion. MarketVector’s Meme Coin Index, which tracks the performance of the six largest meme coins, has soared 215% year to date, more than double Bitcoin’s 100% gain. Although the annual sales explosion that is the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend is not due to spark into life until Nov. 27, that isn’t stopping the scammers, fraudsters and general cyber lowlifes from targeting online bargain-hunting shoppers already. "Where there’s a gift to be bought, there’s also a scammer out to make money,” Anna Brading, a director at Malwarebytes, said, pointing toward three types of threat that consumers should especially be alert to at this time of the year. "He’s a disaster with his credit cards … He certainly lives above his means,” Donald Trump said in 2015 about Florida Senator Marco Rubio, then his opponent in the race for the White House. Nine years later, Trump is tapping the Florida senator to be the nation’s top diplomat, his Secretary of State. In that role, assuming he is confirmed, Rubio will make over $200,000 a year, a bump from his $174,000 Senate salary. Even before the pay raise, the 53-year-old’s overall financial picture has improved since 2015. Read more: https://trib.al/36Oc6Za
